She was arrested because she is a suspect in the murder of a human being.

You expect the police to just let her go because she said she stabbed the man for attempting to rape her?

Supposing the man had attempted to rape her, and she was able to escape, only to grab a knife and stab the man, then it would no longer be self-defence, and she would be charged with at least manslaughter.

Considering the age gap, the law would be inclined to believing her. The character of the man could also be investigated to ascertain if he's had a similar case in the past. Even if it's proven that she should be guilty, being a minor counts in her favour. It's not likely to be wilful premeditated murder, which could compound her case. The girl is not likely to suffer much punishment whichever way the case goes.

Moral of the story - Full grown men should stay away from minors. Everything is stacked against you. You lose everything. She loses nothing. Even if she comes to you, scold her and make sure nothing with the faintest whiff of sex exists between you and them..

It's a normal procedure . the same thing would have been done even in developed countries it's now left to the police carry out a holistic investigation otherwise people will just start killing one another claiming self defence knowing the police will not investigate. but my gut tells the girl is saying the truth cuz i see no reason a 16 year old girl will stab a 49 year old man for no reason(her father's friend for that matter) if not that which the girl claim to the cause .
