With Crude Oil Price Decline, Elites Will Have Less Money To Steal – Afenifere by nairavsdollars(op): 10:08am On Mar 11, 2020
Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere in this interview with TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, speaks on the dethronement of former Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi, latest crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),Supreme Court judgments and other issues. Excerpts:

What is your take on the dethronement of the former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II by the Kano state government?

I have no strong views on his dethronement as there are more pressing important issues that should engage our attention ranging from insecurity to falling oil prices. Sanusi was a CBN Governor who turned the office to a personal one and donating public money like a Donatus all over the place. There was a time we used to know CBN Governor by their photograph and signature on Naira notes. He became part of the political machinery in 2014 telling lies about missing money that was not proved till date. It was all scripted for regime change. Sanusi would be remembered as a progressive who wanted Almajiri poverty solved by spending N5B to renovate his palace. Good riddance.

Some Nigerians believe the excuses given by the state government for his dethroning is just a smokescreen and that his removal is politically motivated. Do you agree with him?

Clearly, he must have crossed some political lines for his head to be chopped by this vindictive government. He was part of them and they have thrown him away when they were done with him.

Given his extreme views on some issues, do you think the Emir stepped on powerful toes in the North?

They must clearly not be comfortable with his hypocritical hard sermons which were irritations in the ears of northern establishment. But I never contemplated how he sang those songs comfortably when you had not shown strong values in public office yourself. We remember all the extravagant contracts he awarded to the El- Rufais as CBN Governor.

Can the deposed Emir challenge his dethronement in the court of law?

He can go to court to challenge the deposition but he should remember that Ganduje is fond of rejecting court orders openly.

The ruling party, APC has been enmeshed in leadership crisis with ongoing plots being made to remove Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman. Don’t you think this is unhelpful to the country?

The crisis in the ruling party is not surprising to those who watch the political scene carefully. The entire party is a special purpose put together for power grabbing and no more. You know when armed robbers want to go into operation they appear united but once they have finished committing the crime, it is everyman looking for his own share. Having a high’-handed character like Oshiomhole as Chairman now brought the crisis today. But I do not see how the crisis can affect the country as the party was never about running the country in the first place. So things can’t get worse because they are fighting as it could not get better even if they were at peace.

With the price of crude oil dropping below $30, some are afraid Nigeria may head into another recession. Are you also worried about that?

It is only the elites who will have less to steal. Even if it goes to $100 per barrel, it’s only them who will have more to steal as the ordinary people have no stake in the prosperity of the country. The only benefit Nigeria can derive from it is if it pushes us to look beyond oil.

What is your assessment of recent pronouncements by the Supreme Court especially on disputed governorship cases?

The Supreme Court created worries in some pronouncements. But since we have to bring finality to these things we have to move on. But the entire Supreme Court judges must digest the dissenting judgement on Imo and take some useful lessons so that we can always repose confidence in our Judiciary.

Yinka Odumakin and his Afenifere are also part of the elite he's castigating. When he was receiving bags upon bags of hard currencies during Jonathan's administration on behalf of Afenifere, he didn't know all these.
An average Nigerian will only speak out when it's no longer in his favour.

No altruistic leaders yet in this country!

But one thing is certain........ NIGERIA SHALL BE GREAT SOMEDAY!!!

What attracts the eboe woman to Odumakin was the dangling gbola inbetween his legs. An average eboe woman would abandon biafra for a yoruba gbola. ibo men's dick is too microscopic for their sexual satisfaction.

The best thing that would ever happen to Nigeria would be the global crash of crude oil.

Nigerians go get sense by force.

And even less money to spend on the people because you can be sure that even the little money left will still be divided between the elite and the rest of the people with the same ratio of 99:1
