Russia, that has a manufacturing base, Russia that is capable of manufacturing just about anything they want with good technology. Russia that sent humans to space even before the good ol USA? Russia that competes with the US in terms of technology or Nigeria where people only PRAY for technological MIRACLES.

Until you have individuals with serious scientific knowledge and breakthroughs, you are stuck in the 3rd world mode. I beg find better comparison like apples to apples and not apples to oranges.

All the hypocrites cussing Buhari should rather tell us what they would have done if they were in Buhari's shoes with the oil price this low and being the mainstay of our economy from one administration to another. Everyone has been paying lip service to diversification of the economy.
I guess it's easier to criticize than to profer solutions to problems, most of the hypocrites here never said anything when the last administration had to borrow to pay salaries despite earning the most in terms of oil revenue in the history in this country, but would abuse Buhari who hasn't earned half of what Jona earned and hasn't owed salaries but instead has been giving bailouts to states. Posterity will be kind to Buhari for this alone regardless of what you dimwits think

What consumer goods does Russia export other than military equipment? Was the economy of Russia not dependent on importation just like ours especially food eg tomatoes from turkey, cheese, milk and other staples from europe. Even wheat. Russia after western sanction, diversified and now produces them all is currently the world's highest producer of wheat within 5 years!
Stay there and be making excuses for incompetence. It took buhari 9 months to appoint ministers during the hight of the global financial crises while other countries were making strategic moves to save their economy.

First, Russia produces many consumer goods for their citizens and others in the region. Yes they don't have lots of goods geared towards western markets.
Manufacturing goods for your own economy is very very important and allows you to have some sort of control of your economy.
Secondly, Nigeria does not have a y manufacturing base, no steel industry, no technological know how, no research and development base. The people are more interested in tribal, religious and mundane issues than in inventions.
Thirdly, besides agriculture which other industry can just make any serious impact in a very short period? None.

Yes this and all other previous governments in this country have been subpar in every facet of creating an enabling environment for solid foundation for diversification of the economy. What did the previous govts do to diversify the economy? Nothing.
Your leaders are a microcosm of you, your village, your town, your cities and the whole country.
Until you have people who are more interested in the greater good of society than their own selfish need, don't expect any serious improvement.

Buhari is more interested in the greater good but unfortunately, he lacks the skills and energy required to take the country to where it needs to be.
