I believe that of First/Heritage/Polaris

Heritage are having issues with the CBN.... Managerial incompetency, maladministration, dipping hands in coy funds, spending unnecessarly are all contribute to their decline hence, the need for a merger

Polaris - From Skye to Polaris ..we all know that later a bigger finance body would swallow them ...

But

That of Zenith/Union Bank
It's not happening....& I don't believe it ....
Union is super strong ...Trust me they have stood, fought and came out reliable ....

On the reality side of life, union bank has been dead for more than a decade now. Just like unity bank, sterling bank and wema bank.
It's a matter of time.
In the telecom sector, survival seems easier than failure. In spite of that assumption, Ntel - how far, so far? Business is black or white. Either you swim or you sink.

Did you read the part where firm with 49% stake of Union is pulling out?? That alone is cause for merger.
Although all these is just speculation. It might it might not come to fruition.

Unity bank seems to be a northern bank, but its big 3 stakeholders are
1. Rivers state government
2. Obasanjo
3. IBB.

Intercity Bank owned by IBB's son was the dominant party in the merger that gave rise to unity bank, and as such the intercity bank elements ruled the roost. They crippled the bank by leading exactly the way Buhari is doing now.
The northern elements are no longer in charge right now o. The head office was moved to Lagos from Abuja and right now a Yoruba lady is the MD.
In the same way, the misrule by fulani elements in Nigeria can't succeed. Either we change or we destroy the country.

I hate that bank with passion because of what you stated above. Millions gone just for flimsy mistake. I hate rejoicing at people's downfall but right now, this seems a good news to me. If i was to be a Yahoo boy, i will LOOT that bank with no mercy.
