It's because they proclaimed the truth which was hard for people to accept. Jesus too was killed for doing the same, and was therefore glorified. So also will the disciples of Jesus shall be glorified on the judgement day. The scripture says, Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
