Tell you what, the main reason for which SSANU decided to make this U-turn is cos of non-remittance of deductions to the said Union. The government is not to blame here, trust me. These unions are troubled cos their free millions which they keep harvesting from civil servants have been stopped.

Guy it's not necessary to comment on what you know nothing about, I was actually disappointed by the federal government when I say the February salary via IPPIS, it shows government can not be trusted to implement it's own word. Why deduct allowances from workers salary without any clarification on it.

Was the government paying allowances before IPPIS? Yes it was paying allowances before IPPIS

Some people just comment on this forum anyhow without thorough knowledge of what goes on within the University system. Government should look into their grievances to make things work

All the Ghost workers must be exposed.
If my dept with 5 lecturers, 3 active 2 on study leave can borrow lecturers and claim to have 26 during accreditation, it goes a long way to tell u the level of fraud in the education section.

I want to believe it's a state University/institution. You should be thankful to your lecturers for finding a way to borrow lecturers so your dept can gain accreditation, otherwise your certificate would have been useless. Is it the job of lecturers to recruit for Universities and pay those employed? Most of these governors are useless. They don't give subventions regularly to Universities and when do they, there's always a short-fall. That's why most Universities, especially state-owned improvise during accreditation and pay those borrowed lecturers little honorarium like 50-70k each but here you're insulting them.

because of ASUU's has success they want to flip flop, thats why academic guys are different from the non academic guys, I always see NASU,SSANU as contract workers in the university systems.

They re the ones that corrupted the lecturers in the first place, always reaping where they did not sow.

Apart from that, I am still surprised that some people still think that unions like ASUU, SSANU, NASU have access to workers' salary, and so they keep blaming them for corruption (both real and perceived) in the University system. If there is no such thing it is the University Bursar, Vice Chancellor, and perhaps Registrar that should answer to that because these are the people in charge. ASUU doesn't have a finger in that pulse. The leadership of the school does. Blindly blaming ASUU for ghost-workerism (permit that expression) is akin to call a dog a bad name just because you need to kill it.

ASUU was right all along. And SSANU should have thought it through carefully before the decision to join. This government is not interested in really fighting corruption; they are simply using that mantra to accomplish more sinister political objective. The government desperately needs to break the backbone of the University unions. Unfortunately previous governments had tried this, even military governments, and failed. The present government first tried to stir public opinion against ASUU, labelled them sex-depraved maniacs and emperors taking their loot from ghost-workerism... Later they came out to claim that most members of ASUU had already joined IPPIS. Finally they resorted to fear-mongering, that ASUU members would not be paid and blah blah blah. Much more than this had been tried by governments and they failed, governments much smarter than this one.
Everyone that supports this government against the University system should have it in mind not to patronize public universities, because at the rate things are going with near zero government financial commitment to the educational sector, we might not in the nearest future have public education left. Yes, many of you will pay more than N1,000,000 in tuition to study Yoruba education, and even then you would still get a quality far removed (in the negative axis) from the present one we all complain about. But you will have the option of attending private Universities owned by our politicians who are systematically destroying the educational system of the country so as to create a market for their own private universities. At that time, you would long for the days of ASUU, SSANU and the likes.

Interestingly the university lecturers won't be the ones losing out here. The same set of people will populate the private universities.

That's one of the reasons ASUU is saying no. How can you be risking your life travelling to Abuja in the Nigerian of today over salary issues. Where is the issue of decentralization? Where will they sleep in Abuja? Who will feed them there? What if there cases aren't attended to and they have to go again? Is it someone, that hasn't taking salary that will be traveling about? Then the real man no man will begin to show up. Pay __K and you will get it done in 48hours. Is that how we move from under developed country to developing country not to mention developed country??

This is very bad.. A lot of non academic staffs of various universities who were employed during the December 2019. Who didn't get the chance to enroll into the IPPIS Program has been waiting for the IPPIS staffs to come to various universities so they can enroll into the scheme since January 2020.. But to know avail.. Only for IPPIS to start paying salaries without enrollment of the new staffs of various universities who has started work since December till date. And still there is no information on when they will come back to various universities to enroll the remaining staffs..

What the earlier author said was all absolutely TRUE. I have personally experienced such also in my dept. When NUC came around for accreditation in Nov last yr, I and my colleagues job applications were fronted as the L2 of the dept, whereas there are no persons occupying such positions in the dept.
How is this possible?- d corruption is deep, originating from d WHOs such as VC to the school Senate and even the NUC members .

[Fraud is every where in this country, if you don't no, you don't no....has any1 told u that some handlers the IPPIS software are using it fraudulently, they capture n pay people who are not govt workers n go behind to claim d money, what do u call those kind of workers, ghost workers or life workers ]

After everything,na still we students go suffer am.
Second semester will be so short and jam-packed.
I pray this strike should not be extended, if not na till December/January I go finish my IT.
