By Ann Godwin,
The Federal Government may dip hands into part of the N9tr pension fund to finance infrastructure, especially road projects.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Mohammed Adamu Aliero, said this, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, while inspecting the ongoing Port Harcourt/Aba Road construction with his committee members.

He said: “There is a proposal, which is now before the Economic Council that part of the pension fund of N9tr should be used in funding some of the infrastructures, particularly road projects. When the proposal is approved by the government, it will be sent to the National Assembly for immediate approval.

” If we rely on annual budgeting, the money will not be enough to rehabilitate this infrastructure. We need extra funds, either by raising a bond or using pension funds. We will not use up 30 percent of the pension fund. The pension fund has been kept over a period of time and when we use about 30 per cent, we will generate it back by constructing toll gates. From the money realised from the tolls, we will pay it back.”

When they were supposed to diversify the economy, and use the proceeds from oil to develop the country they were busy looting the money.

Watch how This 9trn will disappear in just a year and still yet no infrastructure to show for it.

Soulless Rogues......

Why not cut the cost of running this govt and divert the savings into the said audio infrastructure, instead of tampering with the fund meant for the poor old pensioners ?

Good morning a few good Nigerians. Word of advice, if you don't want to lose your sanity because of the insane thievery in govt and bastardization and raping of the country relocate and start a family somewhere else, because the way things look, Nigeria is irredeemable .

Basta.rds, this people are just hopeless and clueless. Why do we have a government that cannot save funds for emergency like this, imagine dipping hands in people's sweat.
Cut the cost of government, some of these useless senators have never proposed a bill, all they do is sleep and at the end of the day, they go home with fat cheques. Apple this to other sectors.
Work on providing 24/7 light/energy, security, good road network they won't hear, just playing politics with everything.
Re: Oil Price Fall: FG Moves To Use Pension Fund On Infrastructure by LordAdam16: 8:12am On Mar 22, 2020
Okay guys, our political class are vermin.

After squandering our oil&gas revenue, taxes, foreign aid, recovered monies, foreign & domestic loans, reserves, and more. They've aimed their corruption RPG at money the average Nigerian had socked away for retirement. Literally nothing is beyond them!

Buhari, there is no money in our pension coffers for you. If the money you and your band of 40 thieves have been siphoning away is not enough: Manage... Like the rest of us.

Anytime dem jor hear say e get where dem gather small money, na just to squander! Very hopeless set of human beings.

Cut down on the high cost of governance.

What stop our legislators from sitting part time.

Niger delta use their crude oil Pay ! Pay till crude oil price fell below 30 dollars.

What stop Northern Nigeria from developing their massive lands for Agricultural purposes and then foot the country revenue base.
