Why did you go for the test, are you coming from any of the high risk country or you had contact with any of the infected patients?
Covid 19 is not malaria that you will walk in into any hospital to perform a test
Please next time, read the post before commenting. Your question shows that you did not comprehend the Op story.

Nigerians please stop the panic why the ruched to be tested for coronavirus.so every cough or cold now is coronavirus I sorry in advanced if we are over 1 50 million people and only one person have died of covid -19 so that means we are safe. don't let panic kill you before the virus o

Hmmm I was thinking the same way till last week. I wont advise ppl to rush to get tested but everyone should panic, we r in bigger mess than u think.

I am just astounded.
That an assumed consultant ent surgeon would require a test for Corona virus before even attending to patients, most if not all of whom don't even have history of travel or contact with someone that travelled in recently is just prosposterous and speaks volumes of our educational mindset as a people.
Someone has no travel history or contact with travel history,is not febrile (easily verifiable with infra thermometre),is not coughing nor sneezing, yet you by inference assume he/she may harbour the virus.
For God's sake from where?
So the virus can travel on its own without a host from China,Europe,America and infect a Nigerian that hasn't set foot outside his state for years?
What a mindset!

Who are you kidding except your sorry self

Oh really? And you smart brain, what have you done? Who knows you outside ur family house?

The doctor that asked you to get a referral was right. Ideally everybody should get tested but due to the limited testing facilities and materials, it is only right that only those who have symptoms or been in contact with confirmed cases should be tested.

I understand, but think about it if everyone starts going to the hospital for the test our health system will collapse as well as spreading the disease

Yet there should be easy accessibility.

People can be placed on different time schedules to visit and get tested so it wont get crowdy.

No wonder theres a lot of cases in Nigeria. No means to check at the airport or anything

As it is now I wont be surprised if it's only the big people that have access to get tested. Yet the government acts as if they are so prepared.

May God protect us.

We should all leave the city and go back to our village where we are all assured of safety and calmness.
The city is already infected with the Virus

You want to take it to your elderly parents? How do you know you are not already infected?
Young people sometimes feel nothing and don't get sick even when infected.
It kills old people mostly!

If we don't order a nationwide lockdown now and unless there is an approved cure available in time, we might reach a point (God forbid!) where we have Covid19 outside and Hunger inside. At that time there won't a hiding place.i do appreciate if the government orders #totallockdown undecided cry embarassed

Total lock down is tantamount to hunger and anarchy...

Will you feed the over 80 million already living in abject poverty??! Where is the welfare package for all families in Nigeria??!...

Please, don't just take a simple view of this scenario... Total lockdown won't work in a struggling economy.

The doctor actually told you the truth, that's the procedure, you cant just come in and say you want to get tested without not being in contact with any confirmed patient, not showing any sign of symptoms or coming from countries that are affected,it's a procedure that must be followed otherwise everyone in Lagos will come in to say they want the same, you should blame the doctor at luth.

That's not true. So many people have tested positive without symptoms. If they tests everyone In lag, confirmed cases Will be more than a thousand.

Today being 23 march 2020, I went to LUTH due to the appointment I have with the E.N.T doctor. When the time came for the Dr to see us the patients, she addressed us and asked everyone to go home due to the corona virus epidemic and how unprepared the hospital was to protect staff working there.

She reveald that LAGOS UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL does not have enough air ventiletor, that LUTH only has about 15 ventilators and the nature of ENT clinic demands close contact with patients for thorough examination and she won't risk her life even if she has ventilators.

She told us to either wait until the epidemic is over or go to NCDC and get tested for the virus assuring us that if an individual can get two negative result within 48hrs and bring the result for confirmation, then she will attend to the person.

I immediately took bike from LUTH gate to CDC office yaba, got there and explained everything to them, they directed me to MAINLAND HOSPITAL (IDH) around Yabatech.

every country of the world is only attending and testing people with severe symptoms, you wey dey enter okada about want to overstretch the system

So it's only people that have travel history that have the virus?
Do you know if he has come in contact with any of them?

People are still not very well informed about this thing.

I'm not in support of this but you should know that it happens everywhere at the moment.
In the US, people are sent back or not attended to, even in Europe.
I don't know why you people can insult the nation for the same things you praise others for.
Did I insult anybody ,I just air my own opinion and I mean everyone in this country with their lukewarm attitudes including d president.
assuming they shut down d airports and borders earlier we won't be witnessing this shit we find ourselves in.
