Today being 23 march 2020, I went to LUTH due to the appointment I have with the E.N.T doctor. When the time came for the Dr to see us the patients, she addressed us and asked everyone to go home due to the corona virus epidemic and how unprepared the hospital was to protect staff working there.

She reveald that LAGOS UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITAL does not have enough air ventiletor, that LUTH only has about 15 ventilators and the nature of ENT clinic demands close contact with patients for thorough examination and she won't risk her life even if she has ventilators.

She told us to either wait until the epidemic is over or go to NCDC and get tested for the virus assuring us that if an individual can get two negative result within 48hrs and bring the result for confirmation, then she will attend to the person.

I immediately took bike from LUTH gate to CDC office yaba, got there and explained everything to them, they directed me to MAINLAND HOSPITAL (IDH) around Yabatech.

It is clear that Nigeria's efficient handling of the Ebola Virus Disease was simpy because of the clear, centralised and competent leadership that GEJ provided at that time. We can disagree and pretend to ourselves that this isnt true, but the facts stares at us in the face.

Without such a leadership now, anything going on will be uncordinated, scatter gun or, in some cases, non existent.
It is clear that MBuhari is physically, intellectually, medically incapable of providing such as leadership. Why cant he (or Abba Kyari) empower the Vice President Osinbajo to provide such leadership? If they really care about the people or the country?
This is what Nigerians should have been calling for. Not for the incoherent Buhari (who should be resting and self-isolating) to give a 23 second TV broadcast about kovik 1-9.

This is what Nigerians should be on social media calling for.

Thanks for sharing this information. I hope it will get to the hearing of our government officials so they could take a major step to see what can be done. Lagos State is trying, and all we need to do is to support in anyway we could. I know they could do more

Why not? As a matter of fact people need to get tested because they may have the virus and not show any symptom.
Before they go about infecting others.

No possible once you infected, the symptoms will manifest. That why they said after 14days incubation period. The op refused to listen to the doctor. You cant just walk in and say you want to get test, its not done anywere in the world like that. Its the ENT doctor that she needs to report.

You were given a simple instruction by the doctor. You flouted it and decided to go see the almighty nurse. Most of the times, you guys are the cause of your issues. There is always a protocol for everything. Like the doctor said, you can't walk into that hospital and ask to be tested when you have no risk factor. No travel history to the endemic zones. No symptoms. No signs. The best bet is to go back to ncdc and obtain a referral letter to that hospital for covid-19 test. However, u are not eligible for that. Even U.S cannot carry such test on all symptomatic patients talk more of every Tom dick and Harry.

Nigerians please stop the panic why the ruched to be tested for coronavirus.so every cough or cold now is coronavirus I sorry in advanced if we are over 1 50 million people and only one person have died of covid -19 so that means we are safe. don't let panic kill you before the virus o

Pls. do not say only 1 has died. The figure was 0 before. Yesterday saw about six people clustered very closely around a fish seller so people are generally still complacent. Buses with microphones in the local dialects need to at this stage go around disseminating information on the virus and what is happening outside Nigeria. Returning Nigerians from overseas are daily bring it in and are starting to infect others. Most of us, it seems, will not comply except we are afraid or compelled. Pls do not allow it to get to the level of our loved ones dying daily & being abandoned on the streets because no hospital will accept them before we take this serious. Many have compromised immune systems without being aware of it so we are all at risk except maybe the loner in his underground bunker.

This is one instance in which the prophets of doom will be happy to be proved wrong. We pray and hope for miracles too, but must not waste time blaming and mudslinging and help to educate others.

This poor attitude is a daily occurrence in our public hospitals across Nigeria. Worst of all is that there is nobody to complain to. You just take every blow on your chin and hope for the best.

I am telling you... Last two weeks, a brother of my flatmate got trapped by Machine he worked wit in a textile company at Ikorodu around 5:30am, instantly two of his fingers got crushed, a hospital in Ikorodu delayed dis man to 3pm b4 they were told to moving him to Lasuth. All they could do at his formal hospital was to dress d wound n bandage it.. Inside d hold up, they end up at Lasuth by 5:30pm.. I joined them at Lasuth ( Surgical Emergency), while at d place, it took us till after 11pm b4 doctor accepted to open the wound because we were running hecter-skecter, to conduct different kind of tests n x-ray, after the whole thing, we were told d tin affect him down to almost his elbow n they have to cut it off, which his family are still contemplate of... I can't believe a place called surgical emergency can place person on such a long procedure b4 one can get his/her ward treated. The long stay at Lasuth n d delay we experienced at d first hospital has caused us a full blow. May God help us.

Ok sir! I know you know! Keep it up Sir

Nearly everyone knows what is being done but people like you don't want to know because you want to spread fear and panic.

There are preventive measures in place already (e.g washing hands, social distancing etc)people are being quarantined, vaccines are being developed and drugs are also being tested. Why are you blind to all of these?
Coronavirus will be defeated inspite of what you believe

We understand that the Coronavirus situation will only get worse if the Nigerian government is not proactive in ordering a lockdown. Let's avoid overwhelming our health care officials and hospitals by forcefully asking everyone to stay home. We need to deal with this sooner than later...Even if we complain of hunger now, the truth is if we don't take care of this now we will still get to deal with hunger. We need to learn from other countries, We need to act NOW!!

(We need your signatures)

Can you help get my petition to 99 signatures by the end of today? I started a petition and I need you to sign and share it now.

The doctor actually told you the truth, that's the procedure, you cant just come in and say you want to get tested without not being in contact with any confirmed patient, not showing any sign of symptoms or coming from countries that are affected,it's a procedure that must be followed otherwise everyone in Lagos will come in to say they want the same, you should blame the doctor at luth.

This type of post is like a robot programmed to follow the proceedure in a lawless path.

A lady was shot by robbers at the odd hours of the night, rushed to the hospital, and needed blood transfusion at near death but rejected because no police report presented, she died due to time wasted. What can you say about this with your robotic reasoning in a lawless nation?

I've been sitting here with one guy since 1hr plus now and there is no one that has attended to us and all the nurses were just going up and down.
What made me to sit this long was because of this ENT issue at LUTH if not for that, i wouldnt have waited this long just to get tested.
-i noticed that the staffs were being reluctant to carryout the test or maybe they dont have the test kit, and if the later is the issue then its a A BIG SHAME.

I cant wait any longer, i'll have to go and wait until (if) the pandemic is over.
My FELLOW NIGERIANS, MAY GOD HELP US IN THIS COVID-19 ISSUE.

Pls go and corroborate my story and if anyone have any idea on how to get tested and the procedures involved, let the person share with us.

You should have read between the lines. The ENT doctor was just simply trying to dismiss you until further notice. Based on current WHO guidelines you do not qualify for COVID-19 testing. Just go home.

T.

Don't be part of the problem.
The Covid-19 Test IS NOT FOR EVERYONE.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for 300 million test kits to be procured and tests to be carried out.
When we all just appear to be tested, we deny those that may actually need testing the opportunity to be tested.
Those eligible for testing are as follows:
If you are coming from an infected nation
If you have come in DIRECT contact with someone who tested positive.

If you don't fall into the above but suspect you have been exposed, start with self-isolation, call NCDC or the State Health Authority and you will be tested.
