After the Excel,
pick Python language.
Learn the libraries use for data analysis and visualisation. I use Tableau for visualising since it's drag and drop.
Learn SQL (MySQL) etc.... Just write down what people are commenting on this thread.

Pycharm was described as the most intelligent IDE and that's what I prefer to use compared to others.. The colorful coding gives you an exciting view of programming I advice you to stick with Pycharm if you're not finding Jupyter enjoyable.
I agree with you wholeheartedly with this. What I intend doing is to starve myself of pycharm for a week or two and force myself on jupyter. Pycharm is like driving with an automatic whereas jupyter is like driving with a manual in terms of punching out the codes. If after a week or two and I am not still feeling it, then would learn how to and start importing and working with libraries on pycharm. But for now will endure.

I always advocate for free education. Not all of us can afford huge cost to learning. However to cut the story short. I'm giving out these 2 UDACITY nano degree course as torrent file. All you need to do is download and install utorrent on your PC. This is the updated UDACITY Course on data analysis that submerges you into being a Data scientist. Here you learn both Python and R.
I will soon be sharing fastest means of diving to IT field. Here are the torrent files.. All you need to do is download and install utorrent on your PC.
Oops Nairaland didn't allow me upload a file of 3MB. You can go to this link or indicate hi on my WhatsApp 09054591447 and I send you the link. Pls its free and I'm not doing any advert or tutorial for you. Learn on your own.

Nice starving yourself from PyCharm it will really help you. Remember when I had to abstain from IntelliJ and I was using Notepad++ for my coding although it was a pain in the beginning but it cemented the little basics.

Jupyter also performs little code completion by pressing the tab key like when you want to access a method from an object or reference a declared variable and it is less Ram hungry compared to PyCharm.

I never knew this, I will try it right away, that's a plus, a really big plus in my books to jupyter. Thanks man.

And yeah! I feel you in that area of abstaining. I feel it's the only way, though at first it won't be easy, like what I am experiencing now.

Only update I have is for guys to be dedicated.
Take at least 4hrs to study and practice your data very well.
TABLEU & Power BI is really becoming a force in data industry.
Most bosses want you to show your analysis in with Pure class tools... matplotlib and seaborn or ggplot are good but in reality you need to know these 2 tools.
Having these tools gives you edge ahead of others.
Dashboards are what makes you superior in this data industry and ability to run complex Statistical analysis when its needful.
For Machine learning and deep learning dudes: its advisable you store your codes. The practice is still the same but slight variations. You can reconfigure and transform your columns and fit it to your predictive model.Good also to push your codes to github.
If you wanna be doing descriptive analysis please master pandas, researchpy, statsmodel api plus time series analysis too.

Will end this with this quote
"Visualization gives you answers to questions you didn’t know you had.” – Ben Schneiderman

Bro, can you please list the step by step guide to for a neophyte to get started?? The hardwares/software needed and maybe link to get them downloaded especially the python environment.

Let’s start a challenge guys.... gonna be sharing data on covid 19. So we can all analyze and predict the data.
Tools to be used:
Python/R
Pandas
Tableau,
Rapid miner
Power BI
Seaborn/plotly
Plotly
Any machine learning model based on you
Excel too....

Guys let me know your thoughts.
