Pan Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere has rejected the suggestion that the Federal Government should print more naira notes in order to save the economy from collapse following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic across the globe.

The suggestion to print more naira notes was given by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos state and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement he personally signed to mark his 68th birthday, Tinubu had implored the federal government to take a cue from the United States Federal Reserve which printed more dollars in order to boost the economy.

Tinubu said: “Already, the price of oil has fallen to less than $30 a barrel. This will bring a dollar shortfall. This does not, however, necessitate a corresponding shortfall in public sector naira expenditures.

“The US controls dollar issuance. We control naira issuance as is our sovereign right. Just as America has used its sovereign right to issue its currency to stave economic disaster, so too may Nigeria issue naira for the same purpose.”

However, Yinka Odumakin, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary in a chat with Daily Independent said it is unfortunate that a richly endowed nation like Nigeria is being asked to print more money like it was done in the days of late Ugandan dictator, Idi Amin.

“That a richly endowed country like Nigeria is being asked to print money like Idi Amin of Uganda in these early days of this pandemic shows how irresponsibly this country has been run and the need to start on a fresh slate when this is over”.

The leadership that took us into this mess can never get us to a better place for ever. Even if we agreed to print money today, they will print more for theft than for the use of the larger society”.

“Even the funds being donated to fight this scourge would mostly be stolen” Afenifere said

Previously I always disagreed with Afenifere but today, I beg to agree!

Some of our leaders are too greedy and selfish to be trusted even when they make "perceived" people-oriented suggestions.

Print more naira notes so more bullion vans drive into Bourdillon!

Indeed. And for jobless and hateful IPOBians too. At this critical time of lockdown when everyone is facing their direct household, local government and State it is sad to see that it is only IPOBians who continue to obsess about Tinubu and the SW without a care about the Corona status of their respective SE states.

This is why their Governors get away with murder to now be acclaimed worst in Nigeria.

Tinubu is like the biblical Judas Iscariot that rebuked Mary Magdalene for buying expensive perfume for Jesus instead of dashing out the money to the poor, he didn't say it because he likes the poor but because he's a thief that has eyes for money. The same issue applies to Tinubu. He didn't ask for printing of more money because he feels for poor Nigerians but because he is a thief that wants more money to loot.

Senseless advice, right? It’s okay. Let us continue to observe the economy. It is still early days so most of you guys running your mouth anyhow won’t understand. If we ever get to the point where a sustained national lockdown is inevitable, that is when you will realize the need to prevent the economy from total collapse. Let’s all continue to abuse Tinubu because it’s woke without thinking out of the box for an alternative policy.

His advise is only senseless to you IPOBians because you always hate first and think later. Mind your business for once and leave Tinubu alone. Everyone is busy facing their Covid-19 challenges.

You people should do same. At least Tinubu is proferring practical and tangible solutions. What are the drunks and worthless tools you call leaders contributing at this time?

Obi is busy attacking materialism of the elite, as if anyone needs reminding of that, while embarrassingly silent on solutions.

It is becoming obvious why you people are obsessed with Tinubu. Your own leaders are zero so you covet Asiwaju and secretly wish you had him as your oga rather than p0rnstar Kanu, Chinaman Obi and the coterie of fraudsters you currently parade as leaders.

Coming from a Chicago drug baron.

This is bullion van economics, coming from a figure as Tinubu makes it more worrisome.

If the FG implement that, we will end up like Zimbabwe, were you use 100,000 to buy bread.

Tinubu has just proven he does not have the mental capacity to rule this Nation.

Tinubu is looking for more money to fret away with bullion van.

This is another empty head that wants to rule Nigerian, all he thinks of is easy money to loot.

Bruv leave those hateful charlatans. Most of them are abroad where Oyingbo is providing palliative their own worthless leaders refuse to provide.

Why won't they then not indulge their hateful souls to be talking senselessly against Tinubu who is the one voice today championing the need to provide ordinary Nigerians with palliative before hunger precipitates total break down of law and order.

Another two weeks of lockdown, with no cash coming in for anyone, and we will see if hungry area boys, with no cash to buy food, will not besiege and storm the mansion of their relatives all across Ala Igbo.

Very myopic people who always hate first and think later.
