keeping their economic interests hedged in the dollar - they want to invite pandemic inflation into the pockets of Nigerians by printing more money.

What happens when too much money is chasing few goods - have we forgotten Zimbabwe so soon. it will take a wheel-barrow of Zimbabwean dollars to buy a loaf of bread. This is where the maggots y'all votaed for and died for have lead you illiterates tongue

A lot of guests and members read through these threads and honestly the rate at which some of these charlatans just derail threads, shouting IPOBians up and down is getting really irritating.
Are they actually paid to advertise for the IPOB sef?

Personally, when I read through comments and I see some unintelligent fellow just start ranting such nonsense, it makes the discourse so uninteresting; readers who may have contributed meaningful suggestions or info would just leave such threads.

I wonder if these fellows are just some secondary school kids. I would be highly disappointed if they are fully grown adults o!
I can just imagine if some may be actually married and have to raise kids with such behaviour. Just messed up!

Don't you get it? It is deliberate. You IPOBians either behave yourselves here or be hounded out. Before we know it, and as is your style, you lot will be shouting you built Naialrand and such rubbish.

Abeg, if you don't like it here, go to one of your numerous Biafran forums of hate and discuss there 'intelligently' if you are capable of such anyway.

Senseless advice, right? It’s okay. Let us continue to observe the economy. It is still early days so most of you guys running your mouth anyhow won’t understand. If we ever get to the point where a sustained national lockdown is inevitable, that is when you will realize the need to prevent the economy from total collapse. Let’s all continue to abuse Tinubu because it’s woke without thinking out of the box for an alternative policy.

Wow, really surprised people like you will utter such. The fact that tinubu, your role model made the statement doesn't make it right by any stretch.

In the height of a dwindling oil economy, someone is advising the govt to print more money with no value-backing.

This would be the worst thing this irresponsible govt can ever do to its already impoverished citizens.

Any attempt at such, we will find the naira at 1000# for every 1$ then you will buy a loaf of bread for 1000#. The economy will sink completely.

I wouldn't think tinubu doesn't know the consequences of such ill advice. But a shattered economy might see Nigerians begging for another Messiah in 2023. And the man (tinubu) with the most dollar reserve would buy the people's loyalty.

If CBN prints more money, in what capacity would. Tinubu have access to that cash? Is Tinubu in any office connected to the federal Government. Hate has eaten out cavities in the space your brains should be.
His hard currency reserve will greatly appreciate due to the devastating fall that will befall the naira.

On the other thread you wrote at length about 'quantitative easing' and 'helicopter money'. grin. The jargon flowed freely and a newcomer reading that stuff could be forgiven for thinking you understood a little bit about how an economy works - even though your suggestions (in reality) were utter nonsense and way off the mark.

But your true self is being revealed here - for those who didn't know. All that high minded policy stuff from the other thread has been thrown overboard and your race to the bottom has begun. Godspeed! wink

To say it's irresponsible-especially when you don't understand why it could be appropriate and when you have nothing else to suggest-may not be right. He's thinking outside the box and made a suggestion. What we should be debating is whether the conditions for appropriately applying quantitative easing as it is known in economics exist now. I personally don't think it'll jump-start anything or be beneficial to the economy, moreover that the Nigerian factor will not allow it to be executed the way milton friedman & co proposed it. I expect the economic advisory team to examine this suggestion & advise the govt. To criticise and look for faults is the easiest job to do, but occupy the seat and see how easy the job is.

For once I will have to support Tinubu on printing more naira. America prints dollars at will because it can afford to do so without anyone questioning but we can't because if we do we will be seen as cheats. But printing more naira will help encourage people to spend more. However, are there enough goods to spend on? if we can have more goods then people can buy them up and that means more successful businesses and more jobs being created. How is the government going to make sure that commodities are sufficient enough to meet demand so that inflation can reduce? by giving itself a timeframe, planning, encouraging local production, trade deals and opening doors to other trade partners to do business easily within the country. God bless Nigeria

What is the answer?

We are locking down the country without providing any means of survival for the people. After a week or two, people will exhaust whatever they previously saved. So, how will they survive?

US and UK have put in place a social security arrangement whereby people who lose their livehood as a result of the lockdown would be paid regularly until the crisis is over. In effect, their local economy will still be sustained despite the crisis.

Can we fund such a massive social arrangement in Nigeria based on our current earnings?

How will they fund the bailout? isn't it by cash giveout which comes from printing extra currency?

They can't appreciate the importance of Tinubu suggestions which in anyway is still opened to further and continuous debates
