I think our Govt, State and Federal, shoudl come together and plan for this lockdown! The first thing they should address before locking down a state is : What will over 70Million nIgerians who live below the poverty line and on a "work-eat-a-day" basis eat, when they are locked down and cant go fend for themselves? I hate to see dying and very hungry citizens confront the military on the streets, if we are not careful This question will naturally elicit the thinking of 'What is the best way to ensure that these million of people get food within those lockdown period"? In foreig n countries, Govt has data of almost everyone and can make payments into their account, so they can get money to buy food during lockdown. How do we copy the same thing in a Nigeria where there is No Data and where some data are even available, (like BVN), Govt is not ready to use them to facilitate token payment to poor citizens? Credible information reaching me says Food that Lagos State is said to be sharing, is being horded, rebagged in lower quantity (hence you see soem bags without the Covid Crest!), looted and the people short-changed! This is not fair. The food, l am told, is not also going round since not everyone can acess the distribution centres, which are at times very far away and limited, compared to the number of people in need. Govt needs to ensure that people can eat, during this lockdown, not just some people or party-members but all people in need of food otherwise, the hungry people will flout the lockdown order, spread the Virus and wait for your military/Police to shoot them...... and l hope that will not precipitate an uprising because a hungry man is an angry man that fears nothing, not even death. 2 Likes |

hilfinity: But why must it get to the extent of jumping-off a bridge, for Nigerian Govt to be responsive to the plight of the poor? That is wickedness, IMO and not something to celebrate. |

The billions all these rich men are donating should be used to give food to all the poor people in this country the government told to stay home first before it grows Wing. There is no reason the government shouldn't be able to provide the emergency medical facilities for this period. |
