Can you further explain the no 4?
Pressure may build up, thus leading to brake failure.

I got the message via similar application to aircrafts.

Don't use parking brakes for too long.

The fundamental question is yet to be answered, why should we not engage the handbrake

My questions are:
1. For how long exactly must one leave the engine running every 3 days to ensure the battery doesn't run down?
What's the exact average time or minimum time in minutes.
2. Why shouldn't the handbrakes be engaged?
This runs quite contrary to what we know on the use of handbrakes.
2-5mins is ok

In the storage state, the brakes can start sticking to the disks

I do not agree with all of them..

What kind of car are you using that would develop problem if you don't start it for a month or two? Thats a myth that's long been busted .

If a drone is used to record Lagos metropolis for example, you would observe almost every street is packed with vehicles, how modern houses dey get garage sef in Lagos? That's not realistic...

I was actually expecting to read the need to clean your car very well with soap because some persons go don rub am hand while parked outside

Thank you very much. Another quick question, how long is appropriate to engage handbrake?

As long as the car is being use for day to day activities

Do you know that making use of gears to park can damage the gears especially when on a slope.

Better to "damage the gear" which isn't even proven, than to damage the entire car when it rolls down the slope with the likelihood of causing manifold damages to others.

If you aren't going to be using your car during this lock down period, park it in a safe place and remove the battery head. This is because when a car is parked for a long time, the battery will drain and the car will not start when you are back at it.

Good but my Car stays 90 to 92 Days with Battery intact and still answer me on my return to use it, after my 3 months course... the Battery is even more than 2 Years now.

What about the tires? Do you need to jack the car up and remove the four tires or no need? Three months is quite a long time.

Why shouldn't the handbrake be engaged ? I'm curious. Thanks for the thread by the way
That got me curious too,.... where I park the car is a little sloppy so what's the alternative to handbrake in a parking situation?

Just as we all know that the coronavirus epidemic is getting virtually everyone locked down at home, our cars/vehicles are also not exempted since we won't be using them.

To avoid stories that would touch the heart whenever the lockdown is over and we want to make use of our cars/vehicles, it is necessary we carry out some things on them and some of them are listed
below;

1. Endeavour to always start the engine of your car/vehicle and let it run for few minutes say every 3 days to avoid problem with getting it to start later on.

2. Endeavour to always move your car/vehicle at least slightly forward and backward if you are unable to move it for short distance to avoid flat spots on its tyres.

3. Park your car/vehicle in a garage, under a car spot or better still, make sure of cover.

4. Try not to engage the handbrake of your car/vehicle.

5. Park your car/vehicle in a safe place and if you are the type that have no option than leaving on
your street, please make use of pedal and other security means to prevent your car/vehicle from being stolen or burgled.

That is all for now; feel free to add yours.
What about removing the Negative battery terminal connector or even both Positive and Negative?

Nurey, pls come and explain number 4 for us.

Binding brakes, but I would prefer to park the car on a leveled ground to avoid pressure exertion on the hand brake for a long period of time.

Before the lock down, I can stay one week without driving my car. Unless that car is never in good condition. Two weeks of not driving the car should never make the battery to run down. If handbrake is engaged where the car is not in a sloppy area, it's as good as not engaging it as such, there's no pressure on the brake

Karma is real, so just accept it and move on.

Next time come up with original content so people would take you seriously.
