COVID-19: Our Hospitals Are Stretched, U.S Tells Citizens Leaving Nigeria by NaijaRoyalty(op): 10:31am On Apr 06, 2020
Hospitals back home are “overwhelmed”, the United States Mission has informed Americans leaving Nigeria amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It said two evacuation flights scheduled to depart Lagos on Friday were cancelled due to flight clearance issues in some West African states.

The PUNCH had reported that scores of Americans were stranded at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Friday as the emergency flights never showed up.

In a statement on its website on Sunday, the US said its nationals in Nigeria willing to travel back to the States would be responsible for their medical bills.

The statement read in part, “Two flights that were scheduled to depart Lagos on Friday were cancelled due to flight clearance issues in other West African states. The U.S. government immediately took action to redress the situation and the flights have been rescheduled.

“Potential evacuees (should) bear in mind the following considerations in determining if an evacuation flight is in the best interest of you and your family:

“Healthcare systems in many localities in the United States are currently overwhelmed. If you need to seek medical care while in the United States, you will be responsible for all costs not covered by your insurance;

“There are shortages of many basic supplies across the United States, including toilet paper and canned and frozen foods.  Many stores, restaurants, and businesses are closed;

“At this time, Nigerian airports are closed to all commercial international flights.  If you evacuate to the United States, it is unlikely you will be able to return to Nigeria until the Nigerian government reopens the airports and commercial flights resume.”

The PUNCH had reported that Foreign Affairs Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama, said foreigners in Nigeria were leaving the country to use health facilities in their countries.

According to the World Health Organisation statistics, there are over 250,000 coronavirus cases and above 70,000 resultant deaths in the US while Nigeria has recorded over 200 cases with five attendant deaths.

Make dem kuku stay back and manage Nigeria with us .

Atleast our corrupt politicians won't run to US for treatment as it stands .

We are in this together since the useless government failed to upgrade our health care system despite billions upon billions of Naira budgeted for it since Buhari's inception as president .

These people should just go and beg China and stop forming boss,we now know wher the world power is.

We should learn to tell ourselves the truth. Foreign nations like the US and European countries know that Africa is safer at this time.

Imagine if the situation was reversed. Africa had the high Covid cases while Europe and America had Africa numbers, by now they will be playing god with medical aids. I hate US. I love Canada.

Ego is a big problem in life and anyone who has it will lose a lot.

When a leader has ego, the followers will suffer many things.

What a world!

The Queen of England described The World wide Pandemic yesterday as something she has Never seen in her life..

Personally, When I see the way humans are dying , it's Fearful.. I see fellow human beings like me being loaded in trailers and coffins! O my GOD!

I imagine the Sorrows and cries in homes who see their loved ones dying and can do nothing about it.

I just wish the Inhabitants of the Earth would Realize the Reason we are Created and the need to Depend on GOD and Live According to his Dictates..

I Just wish we would understand that this life is a Rehearsal for our next life!

I Just wish we would understand that there is Heaven and there is Hell!

I Just wish we would understand that there is No Repentance in the Grave

Have Mercy on us O LORD!
