I won't rely on Nairaland for such information. It might be a good idea to call for clarification. If to go by the criteria, the person would not qualify. Some may get the money without qualifying only for CRA to come after that person the next tax year.

The next day, we went to bredin learning centre at Edmonton we were appointed counsellors.
So far so good, I've been able to open a bank account with Scotia bank, I have a health card now and I've gone for several check up with the doctor free of charge. I wrote the knowledge test and passed, I know have the class 7 driver's licence.
But finding a job has not been easy, I've applied for various jobs, but i have not gotten any cos of the pandemic. I went for interview at Walmart twice, but I was not picked.
Staying here has been a good one, the main challenge is finding a job.

We ( a family of 4) got to the MMIA, Lagos by 2pm on march 7 for a 11pm flight by Air France. We got there that early cos we travelled from another state far from Lagos, and there was no where we could stay.

It will take some time to find a job due to the pandemic and shutdown of non-essential businesses. You came at the worst time- sorry to say.
You just have to keep applying for jobs and hope something comes your way.

Welcome to Alberta, Canada.
I heard it was already becoming difficult to get Walmart jobs (in Calgary), and this was even before the pandemic. However, stay optimistic, a different store in need of hires might still eventually call to ask for your availability. Spread your net as well and apply to different places.

This is the first I've heard of anyone not getting a job at Walmart.
In Ottawa once you get called for Walmart, it's 99% sure you are getting the job.

They are busy right now due to the demands of Covid. They would surely get back to you.

My wife has been through reassessment twice. one was done pretty fast i.e in about 3 weeks, the other took 6 months, and all these were before Covid.

Please I really want to understand the demerit of non accompanying spouse. I am currently on 450 now with spouse spoints without IELTS. But if I calculate without my husband points it will be 469. House I need advice. What if I get ITA and by God's grace PR how do I bring my spouse over. I have a baby and from my understanding the baby is NT an issue. CRA at a later date reviews tax returns filed. Most are straight forward e.g. T4s already submitted directly by employer to CRA, T5s already submitted directly to CRA by financial institutions, T4As submitted directly to CRA by Students loans etc. These slam dunk returns are hardly reassessed.

However there are some scenarios where returns are reassessed. e.g.

Case 1
Sometimes, you forget to report an earning or expense, so you can trigger the reassessment yourself by applying for a T1 adjustment or amendment.

Case 2
There are situations where the CRA can't tell if you are being honest with your submissions e.g. donations (religious donations inclusive), professional membership association (if not reported already on T4), childcare fees, self employment expenses etc.

After review, they may likely send you an email or a post to submit documents (proof to back up your claim). If you don't send it in within a time period (30 days I think), your tax return would be reassessed and adjusted accordingly. This would mean you end up owing or due for more refund. Most times it's the former.

Hi guys, this is for those of us who just migrated to Canada and couldn't get a job because of the pandemic or just stopped working just after we got a job. We don't qualify for E.I but we can get CERB. We qualify for CERB. I just applied successfully. No dulling.
