essegis:I just checked now being 7:15pm The current is 0 amp and the battery voltage is displayed as 26.4 So can I say it is fully charged ?
|
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ewizard1: 7:20pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
JaySterling:Then you can not attain 29v on that. Go by the chart for correct voltage. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JaySterling: 7:22pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
ewizard1:I just checked the resting state now It is 26.4V |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ewizard1: 7:23pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
JaySterling:Yes, that's your actual full battery voltage. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 7:25pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
JaySterling:yeah, highly likely ur batt is full, however is your inverter off?..that voltage is a lil too high for a resting battery voltage. @ 7.15pm, i expect to see 13v and below especially if batts are connected to inverter. you mentioned hving a 55inch tv, what is the consumption of that tv? send a pic of the battery specs, where float and absorb voltage settings are written, i have a hunch, your charge controller may be set wrongly to charge your batts with higher voltage than the batt needs, this will end up frying/killing the battery under 6months even LONG batter with 14.4v to 15v absrob and 13.5v to 13.8v float voltage quickly drops to 13.1v/13v resting voltage and dips to 12.8v when 5kva inverter is turned on |

earthrealm:My inverter was off when I took the picture, but now it’s On and in use. *Please where do I see the float and absorb voltage settings |

There's a lot of battery/charging talk here so could someone enlighten me on the feasibility of charging a car battery with the 12V points from a generator? i didn't start my car for a week and discovered the battery was completely dead. its a shock as the said battery is just 4 months old anyway someone alerted me to the 12V output from the generator so i checked and it seems the generator should be be able to do 8Amps via the 12V output. said battery is 75Amps will it work? and is it advisable

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JaySterling: 7:57pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
earthrealm:My setup is a 24V bank 12V x 2 Isn’t 13V too low to be the rested Voltage Isn’t it supposed to be around 25 point something as per this chart
|
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 8:04pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
JaySterling:multiply by 2, for 24v inverter, 3 for 36v inverter...its self explanatory in the chart. by 13v, i t shud be 26v for a 24v setup...just as you have. now with the inverter turned on, no load...whats the voltage, then turn on the load and also state the voltage.. from the chart you can see 100% is 25.6v or so for 24v system..this translates to 12.8v per battery the battery specs is written on the body of the battery..examine ur battery well @AshipaEk0 yes, you can use your gen charging point to put some juice into the battery, since it outputs 8amps..leave the battery for upto 5hrs...so it can get at least 40amps. your car may likely have a parasitic drain, if battery dies in just 1 week. ie if you are sure the battery is good in the first place. you may consider getting a compact 10w or 15w car solar panel, you simply place on your dash board and it keeps your battery topped up and in good health |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ewizard1: 8:05pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
JaySterling:Where did you see 13v? You should focus on the 24v column
|

ewizard1:I was responding to someone who said my resting voltage should be 13v |

JaySterling:What is your battery capacity? 200ah times 2? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by JaySterling: 9:18pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
tipzy001:Yes, correct |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dam5reey(m): 10:07pm On Apr 12, 2020 |
JaySterling:Yes, you are correct. At fully Charged, I get a over 26V too under No Load.. I don't know why people Take resting Voltages, when your Inverter only disconnect under Load. For Me, I use Under Load Voltages and it's most accurate for me... See below I started at fully charged about 25.7 V there about.. Now I have discharged 400wh approx 17% DOD on 2400Wh battery Voltage still above 25.1, which tally to the Graph posted.

JaySterling:Hi, Your battery capacity is small for those loads, you have just 24v 200ah battery capacity. And u ran 55'' tv, fan, table top fridge from 6 to 11pm, while the depleted battery was never fully charged the next day, y? U also ran this loads, or even much more during the day, when the battery should be enjoying a good recharge! Come o, what is your panel capacity slf, 700, 500 or 1000w? |

Dam5reey:Nice display. Could you elaborate on how you hooked it up. I have 2 of such lying around. @All, the screen of my 5yr old 4kva mustpower inverter just went blank.inverter works ok though. Any tips on how to repair this? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 10:57am On Apr 13, 2020 |
You are lucky if you got 5 years use before any issues came up on the Mustpower. Random control board {component} failures are the bane of the Mustpower, if it is not calibration issues for voltage and current, it would be board failure due to surge or cooling fan failure e.t.c The power board side conversely is pretty rugged and can run large loads within its rating easily. This range of inverter would be far better value than indian brands and more expensive premium options if only they made a more reliable control board. If you take your inverter to Oshodi Arena, you can either have the board repaired or swapped out for a new one for like 35K all in. They will always test it for you there although no guarantee it will not fail again in 3 weeks or 3 months or 3 years. Malevonent: |

NiyiOmoIyunade:35k, wow..it has happened b4..and resolved by its3lf after a while.guess i will find a way of using external display like dam5reey Does the board have a name. Let me search for it on aliexpress |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Dam5reey(m): 1:44pm On Apr 13, 2020 |
Malevonent:The connection is quite Simple, I use 1 Shunt and Two meters. I used speaker wires.. There are 4 ports on the meters, See the connection below: Battery + goes directly to the Battery Battery - goes to the Shunt where load is connected in my case inverter. Shunt -/+ connect to the middle section of the Shunt on meter 1, then interchange on meter 2 to get Charge and discharge

Malevonent:Mine is a 5kw 48v and days ago, it surged and showed me error 4 till date. i started to think its my village people. now there is lockdown, had to whip out a forgotten 12v inverter, but the shit is a modified sine wave inverter and it gives me the annoying 'hummmmmmmmm' as if transformer dey inside my house. cant run anything except light and dc fan, even sef, the changover time is worse, everywhere goes dark for like 2 secs someone help me beg for the lockdown to be cancelled, so i can fix my lovely horsepower have to replace the control board. i guess. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 4:51pm On Apr 13, 2020 |
fogeg87963:Nothing beats a portable small pure sinewave backup inverter. It comes in handy when the big guy fails, at least you won't be in darkness till the fix is gotten. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by fogeg87963: 4:59pm On Apr 13, 2020 |
mctfopt:yeah yeah, ASA this virus ish lets go of its grip, i'll replace the inverter with a premium brand, not saying they are not susceptible to damage too, but at least, the chances are lower given the same conditions. the other items in the circuit are american and they handled the surge like it was nothing. the chinese guy just went kaput ![]() |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Malevonent: 5:31pm On Apr 13, 2020 |
fogeg87963:seems you dont hqve a stabilizer?. why not hook up a centrl stab for the whole house and call it a day. i have a `15kva central stab, guess why my mustpower hasnt had any issue till date Dam5reey:thanks, will try and hook up mine, your explanation is straight forward |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:01pm On Apr 13, 2020 |
fogeg87963:Sometimes the Chinese do try. Not all the times do they come up short in the business of quality. Eg a Chinese earbud I got sometime last year, was machine washed the other day. I had given up on it ever be ok. After sun-drying for some time it was good to go. I couldn't believe it. Lol. Though quality is never second guessed from the Americans. Their insurance will make sure you deliver or go bankrupt ![]() |
