The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Monday’s COVID-19 Pandemic speech by President Muhammadu Buhari as very disappointing.

The party, in a statement Monday night by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the speech, just “like pre-recorded broadcast of March 29, 2020” failed to address salient issues of urgent concerns to Nigerians in their daily struggle against the spread of the plague in our country.

The party expressed sadness that Mr. President “again” failed to show leadership and displayed total lack of touch with reality as he failed to give any hope on palliatives to the ordinary Nigerians as they face hunger and economic pangs of the lockdown.

“It is more painful that President Buhari could not address the immediate needs of the people or provide a trajectory that will take care of their future.

“Instead, Mr. President bored our nation with a rehash of global data already known to Nigerians in addition to promises that are far-flung departures from the harsh realities on the ground.

“Nigerians expected Mr. President to directly address the established failures of his palliatives distribution, particularly the provision of funds to the poorest of the poor, which has been marred by allegations of corruption and diversion of funds. This is in addition to allegations of diversion of rice and other food items meant for the poor masses.

“Can Mr. President claim not to be aware that not a handful of Nigerians have received any palliatives and that huge majority of our citizens are complaining that they have not been reached with any panacea despite his administration’s claim of having reached 2.6 million household?

“Announcing the expansion of the palliative scope to 3.6 million households without addressing the failure of the scheme and with no parameter to showcase the declared expansion is an encouragement of the corrupt system that has been depriving Nigerians.

“The PDP challenges Mr. President to disprove Nigerians by publishing documents showing the beneficiaries of the claimed 2.6 million household social intervention, the benefiting communities as well as the parameters that will be deployed for the additional one million household,” the party said.

PDP are doing much better as an opposition party than a ruling party. I pray that Nigerians see this talent they have and keep them perpetually in opposition in order to have a vibrant democracy.

PDP would not have done any better. They'd probably do even worse. I detest that party. However, I agree 100% with all they wrote here. The president is an utter disgrace!

As always, you could not sense any empathy. Just blabbing away like some robot. There's absolutely no reason to lock Nigerians inside their houses and then leaving them completely on their own. If you're copying what your western masters are doing, then go the distance as they're doing.

And nobody should give me that crap about Nigeria not having money to provide palliatives to EVERY citizen. Go fvckin borrow if you have to. That's what your western masters which you copied from are doing.

And why is it only the common Nigerians that always have to be the ones making sacrifices? Will the government ever for once make sacrifice for its citizens? When big businesses and banks are at the point of collapse, the government gives them bailout, even if it means borrowing to do so. Nigerians right now are on the brink of collapse and all the fvckin president could say is we should sacrifice once again. Sacrifice with what? With our lives, right? With impending crime and social unrest?

What a fvckin prat!

2.6 million people might sound much to Ghana of 21 million people, but definitely not Nigeria of 200 million people.

The current palliative is a drop in the ocean and people would complain about not being reached.

The question is, how could this semi - dead party call PDP expect large number of people to testify, when less than 5 percent of the poor would get the palliatives?

That's why I believe the PDP would be officially cremated in 2023, they don't know how to play good opposition. They only function very well when it's time to loot the CBN!!!

A party that gather thousand of youth and killed them in the name of searching for employment, have no right to criticize our president who is doing everything possible to avoid dead of Nigerians.
PDP brought Boko Haram
PDP killed youth in the name of immigration employment
PDP embezzled our reserves
PDP did not save one naira for 7yrs even when fuel was sold at it highest
PDP killed my governor (yakowa) Azazi just because Azazi said PDP is Boko Haram
PDP spend 16 wasted years and God will punish that evil party.
PDP will never see the key to Aso Rock again.
Children of hate, oya carry on,start the insult

Yes. Our national treasury will be safe with PDP in opposition. This country would have gone bankrupt in this period of crisis if we had allowed them to remain in charge.

Meanwhile, there's no difference between the PDP and the APC. The former taught the latter THE ART OF LOOTING. The latter has already taught the next generation THE ART OF MEGA LOOTING

PDP should stop ranting.

We Igbo's are in tune with President Buhari's decisions. The extension of the lockdown is for the best interest of all Nigerians and we thank Mazi Buhari for that.

God bless Buhari,
God bless Nigeria.

We knew that there was corruption then, but not as it is today where some bunch of fools are making irrelevant decisions for mr president
