I think its necessary for all of us to keep this thread active before the portal is open again, so that we don't rush in and do the wrong thing.

I read on the UK visitor visa thread, where a nairalander said his friend advised it is better to remain in the UK until they call you for Phase 1 training, so long as your 6 months visa hasn't expired. He added there is no point coming back to Nigeria after the assesment.
Sent the person a message but he hasn't replied since then.
So now my question is how do you deal with UKVI embassy, when you initially told them you will be staying for 2 weeks, when you have exceeded 2 weeks?

hmmm...Hopefully he responds.
I really hope he does, he's done his time in the BA, he has a very good and simplified way of explaining things.

Why should you tell them 2 weeks knowing fully well the process might take longer than that?

hmmm well I dont think it is the persons fault. Someone I know said assesment is for two days, but you are advised to be in the U.K. at least a week prior to the assesment.

Sorry I have been away for some time and I side with you that this forum should be active for us to inform ourselves when recruitment commence.

From your question, if you went to the UK for a visit and recruitment had not begun, its advisable you do not overstay more than the duration you stated on your application. In this case anytime recruitment begins, it will be very easy to get another visitors visa to join the Army.

This is when you have already proceeded with your application and have been given a date for the assessment before you travel to the UK. But if you travel to the UK before you start the application, it will take a bit longer

You just have to complete the initial part of the application without filling the visa details. The Army recruitment agency says when recruitment begins you will be assigned a CSM who will contact you and move your application forward

The people I know, they aren't from Nigeria sha. They are from st Lucia. After they went for assesment and it was successful, they stayed in the U.K. until they were asked to start basic training. Don't you think Its pointless coming back to Nigeria and doing visa again for basic training, plus you risk visa denial and expenses all over again.

Well I just read somewhere on UK visitors thread about someone who overstayed the number of days she put on her cover letter. She was advised to write a letter to UKVi explaining why she had overstayed.

Dose that mean I must have stayed in UK for five years if not I can't be qualified

Need answers please

Ones you pass your assessment, you are granted 'leave to remain' visa which allows you to stay in the UK. You only have to go back to Nigeria if you have not yet done your assessment and your visa is running out.

Update:

Just spoke with a recruitment officer on twitter and was told invitation of commonwealth nations to the UK is likely to be linked to the lifting up of the travel restrictions.

Thus we should be looking at 2021.
maybe that why when I try to take their time eligibility check ..I was told I didn't qualify .was thinking maybe it because I stated that I have never lived in the UK and have nobody there

Exactly. Its like that because the form is not for us, rather it's for their citizens. Let's wait for when the form will be suitable for us.

Since recruitment has not started for Commonwealth applicants, you can just create an account on their website. When recruitment commence and it gets to your turn, you will be assigned a CSM who will contact you.

Knowing someone who is willing to support you with documents to travel to the UK and also accommodation is a basic requirement so you should started linking up with friends in the UK

Hello everyone. I hope we are all staying safe and steering clear of this pandemic. May the almighty keep protecting us! My question now is "How sure is this recruitment going to be" because i`m planning on getting my international passport solely because of this recruitment so i can fully apply because i noticed they asked for passport details. I have an uncle in the UK though and i`m hoping he will sponsor me. Is there any other thing i will have to do? I`m a graduate of chemistry education. Anticipating your invaluable responses!!!

Go to the army website and create an application now because most likely it will be "first registered first serve" when recruitment commences. Since you have your passport, if you are selected and you are invited for the 2 days assessment in the UK, you would have to apply for a visitors visa. So you should also prepare all the documents needed for a visitors visa when the time comes

I started the registration but I stopped where they asked me to fill my passport details since I don’t have a passport yet. Do you suggest I fill in that I don’t have a passport or I should wait till I get my passport.
