COVID 19 is real.
Abba Kyari is dead already

If only they built quality hospitals at least in Abuja with the National hospital budget. He might have has a better chance of surviving the pandemic

This pandemic has shown us all that fixing our infrastructure is a necessity.

If good hospitals would have saved lives, how come people are dying in their thousands in the US and the UK and other developed countries??

Yes, our government should have done better for health care, but in this case, having good hospitals won't have saved Kyari's life.

He is also infected, that's why he brought in the Chinese doctor to treat them both but unfortunately, the chinese doctor couldn't cure his friend, hope they cure him.

quote author=Ogegeodey post=88564082] cool Everyone is claiming shocked, He died because he prefers a private facility against government warning that all covid -19 cases be treated in government facilities. He should have quarantine himself immediately he came from London but No, he prefered to share the virus to people around him first, he could have infected the president.

May his soul RIP[/quote]

Kyari tested positive in Abuja and was moved to Lagos for further medical attention but unfortunately passed away weeks later.

I wish God could just selectively pick and drag all the crooked politicians and their allies, in the corridor of power, stealing or embezzling our national wealth, while making Nigerians to suffer, into their early graves altogether, once and for all!

People are dying in their thousands cos the infection rate exceeded the healthcare capacity and the health workers were choosing how to care for and who no to. Guess you have heard the word "flatten the curve"

Nigeria isnt yet overwhelmed by increasing infection rate mainly cos out testing rate is extremely low. however our infection rate per test is higher than south africa, ghana etc. its a concern

the abuse of this social distancing cos of hunger will bring a new infection dimension to this shit

It's better to have a good infrastructures like good hospital in our country..... that doesn't mean people will not die if it's their time, everyone will eventually die one day...

some of the big politicians have their medical records in foregn hospitals and this epidemic have made it compulsory for them to be treated at home.

Maybe this will teach us to always value and build our own instead of depending on others.... afterall we have best hands here in Nigeria...

The high dead rate in foreign Countries is due to low man power/equipments against higher covi patients at a time

What you are saying isn't exactly true. Every serious case overseas gets the same type of care. And even when they get high quality care, people still die.

The problem is, apart from the fact that 'having serious predisposing conditions' and old age may predispose one to dying from coronavirus, no one knows the exact factors that predispose one to dying. Add the fact that there is no cure whatsoever yet.

Once one falls ill, medics can give supportive care and hope the immune system does its best.

That's not true, they have the manpower and the equipment.

The problem is,

1.There is no cure.

2.This is a new disease. We don't know what factors predispose someone to die and someone to live (apart from age, and having things like diabetes and obesity and hypertension, and even then, people who are young and fit still die)

3.The best form of care for now is supportive treatment , while hoping that the immune system does its best.

4.Even if we had high class facilities, and God knows I want that for Nigeria, and am annoyed that the health budget has been cut, and that we aren't even earning enough money for the thing, it won't have saved Abba Kyari's life.

5.Until a total study has been done to elucidate predisposing factors to dying, we won't know why Kyari died, and Makinde of Oyo lived, or why Atiku's son is still testing positive, and not having symptoms over a month after first testing positive.

NOte that concerns about manpower and equipment don't apply to Abba Kyari because he is a high ranking government official. So, regardless of the state of our hospitals, he would have gotten first class treatment.
