Salvageable??

Financial compatibility is very important.

Now, if OP's wife spends her own money alone, the blow is softened but still a blow.

It sounds like a salvageable flaw. Also, assuming you're of similar age, she's young and in that zone where it's 'socially acceptable'/she can somewhat be excused for making questionable financial decisions, so I wouldn't write her off as a complete lost cause just yet, teach her, help her.

7 years is a long time to throw a relationship away, you know her best however, so if you think there's absolutely no fixing the situation I guess you may have to just cut your losses

I wondered at many comments.
Ending up with a woman that can't manage finances will render a man poor.

In fact that's the first test for a man that wants to go far in life in choosing a spouse. Very important.
And people are saying it doesn't matter.
It matters a lot.

Men need to learn how to say ‘NO’. If she wants to leave because you want to spend money sensibly let her leave. If she runs you down financially she will still leave.

Better for her to leave while you’re still young and can recover quickly than when you’re older and ruined. Na dat one go pain you pass

Financial compatibility is important, true. 7 years is a very long time to have invested into a relationship, based on this and the fact that they're both relatively young, I think it's worth trying to salvage. For example, OP can test things out by not being as much of an enabler, if there are still no improvements, he can move on

It's because they're young that they should be honest with themselves.

The 7 years is sunk cost. Forget about it. The guy looked well and feels that a life with his gf will be frustrating, etc.

People should be honest with each other and themselves. Now is the time, not after marriage.
