First learn a skill(plumbing , welding, barbing, hair dressing ) or any other high demand skills.. then go for your masters in Canada , Australia or Germany.. no matter how bad it is you can get your masters and get some income through your skills , this income can pile up and you putting for your PhD or other coarse and continue working and learning , I can tell you for a fact you would be better off than bumping into business in Nigeria without previous experience
So a potential Germany or Canada Msc degree holder should be doing plumbing and barber? Haha why not ask him to learn ICT related skills

Relocate to a first class country like Canada. Do your MSc and start a business from there.
I think you can secure grants in developed countries like Canada to assist with your pilot training.
Be wise. Don't return to this shithole unless you want to establish something or go into politics, in future.
8M can secure all you seek. Information is all you need.

Op,

From a guy whose younger brother is a Pilot with Ibom Air, runs a thriving 9-figure business here in Nigeria, the quoted post above is the best advice on this thread.

I wanted to laugh but remembered that it is not your fault. Rather, the suffering and smiling by Nigerian leaders has done to her citizens. Please inasmuch as those "skills" are "well paid" in the west, they are highly regulated and he would start afresh when he gets there thereby incurring more costs.

OP: Convert the money to dollars. It would be foolhardy to have your life-savings in naira. Prepare for the GRE and leave to the US. This is assuming you studied a STEM program. If you go into business, it would take you years to generate profits (which you would live on. You dare not try to live on the revenue).

OP: Before you go into entrepreneurship as a fresh graduate in Nigeria, think am o.

Gerrard59:
Preach sir!

When I see Nlders praise entrepreneurship so much, I laugh. This is not because being an entrepreneur is bad (providing value is good and rewarding) but OP is saying that young Nigerians who do not have something to fall on should focus on solving their immediate needs first before attempting to solving societal needs. You cannot give what you do not have. How can someone with no strong support base (parental support, an existing business waiting for you to take over or some rich relatives willing to help) attempt to provide value? You would most likely eat the earnings of the business instead of re-investing because you are at the survival stage. Maslow Hierarchy of Needs tells us so. It is until you have solved your basic needs that you can then think of solving people's needs. It is another reason I get amused when folks complain that banks refuse to lend them money when they had awesome business plans (to me, plans are useless. Things change quickly). Banks are profit oriented entities and would most preferable/likely fund someone with a track record (existing business or strong support base to act as collateral), not a recent grad. This post reminds me of lad who dumped his digital marketing agency he co-founded to look for a job in an investment bank. When inquired further why he is leaving his firm (I coached him for the interview), he complained of how business was not moving well and he had difficulties solving his daily needs. As a result, he needs a job. Interestingly, this dude studied in the UK for his two degrees (Bsc Eng and MSc Engr) and I reasoned that he has a strong base and was relying on that but cannot continue to do so going forward. Yet another, this time an ex-classmate, he left his digital marketing agency to get a job as an account executive. Apparently, because he had same problems - solving his daily needs and a new business cannot solve one's needs unless the business is not expected to grow.

So OP is right. No one is saying don't become an entrepreneur but do not so on an empty stomach. You would most likely eat your revenue not even profits as the latter take time to come. Someone would ask what about in the US. What people tend to forget that is the kind of profiles these straight-out-of-school entrepreneurs have. They most likely went to Ivy Leagues, got funded based on the idea not the bottomline of the business, have a strong base to fall on, live in country where interest rates are miserably low and the VC/angel investors' market is strong (literally got founded). So you see? Getting a reasonable job does not make you a slave like some cretins say or keeps your dream away like some mor0ns opine. What it does is: it provides you a support (financially and mentally) on living your life while you plan towards starting your business. What people rarely say about entrepreneurship without investors/parental support/existing history of credit lending is that you would be eating your revenue as they come because your personal problems (rent, feeding, clothing etc) need to be solved.

What course did u study?
What are you inclined towards.
Being a pilot is good, I don't know how much it costs and the different stages b4 u can be certified to man a plane.
I would have advised u go into business but it has to be a dream and passion within u to run a business and that is why I asked the second question above
If u have more money than the 8m, u can go for pilot cos they are well paid but find out from pilot to guide u of the terrain in the industry. There is a pilot school in kwaara state I think. U may go for additional course overseas.
U can always do a business and do Msc.
I did MBA (Saturday only and it's a 2 year program all things being equal).
May be u invest like 6.5M in secured investment while u use 1M to start a business after much enquires.
Once ur business picks, u can go for ur MBA.
U can learn a skill ( not classroom/ office skill).

Thanks for this. I slept off just woke up now. I studied Physics and I love gadgets. Doing business I know for sure won't be an easy one cos I need to know the nitty gritty of any before venturing into it.
I've started processing admission for M.Sc in Canada though, but I'm still very skeptical as Idnt want to waste money. I hate trial and error, I want what will work. Visa in naija u knw ain't beans. Got a frnd that got rejected a couple of times. He has been wasting money and time. Aside, the 8m, I've got backup from parent and siblings.

after the coronavirus is over, invest the money in a masters degree in a foreign country like Canada, New Zealand or some specially selected/screen EU nation where you can have opportunity to get work after study.

Any country you want to pick, make sure they have a friendly policy for immigrants and foreign students and also check their economy and employment rate. Go for smaller developed countries than popular countries with harsh immigration policy to avoid visa denials.

Don't invest in any business cos you are not into any thriving business already, so if youb dare, you will most likely spend 80% of that money learning which business works for you and your business location.

Pilot course is not a bad idea, but let it be your last option, its not as easy and lucrative as it sounds cos getting the required flying certifications and license + job after study is not usually easy for a young black pilot

Dear Op, you need twice or thrice that amount u have at hand to be able get an ATPL frozen license (with acc. 200+hrs )and you will need additional 750-850hrs to be able to join an airline(Jazz,Dubai airline, Air Canada )as a first officer for a Boeing 737-400. Trust me piloting is a lot of money.

Best advice remove small 50k or 100k get a good mentor not scammers used it to learn Forex trading with all your Heart because thats the best business you can do right now. You just only need data connection,Laptop, good network and the money you want to invest in it. If you think am wrong go check all this so call Forex traders in South Africa Fbk, Jason Noah, sandile shezi you will change your mind
. If you really know how to write well and create a good story, go to YouTube and learn Amazon Kindle publishing. If you really think it is not profitable check ilegend post here in nairaland. You cant use morethan 10k to learn it
.learn digital marketing I can help you with some free course you can download for free.
. Then the remaining money you can use it for the pilot course or MSC program or save it and look for a job

. Online business is the way and less stressful. Offline business have a low probability to be successful and very stressful.

I also hate trial and error and I like being certain of what will work, unfortunately or not, taking risk.in the real world is what you've got to do is succeed.
I tried my hand in many business that failed. I was working in a well paying job some 12 years back
Lost close to 3m trying my hand on various businesses being a novice.
Some of the people who used my funds where people I thought were friends.
Lost my job 8 year ago. Started a small business and worked part time with a company. Started MBA. Got a fairly low paying job in between.
Got a breakthrough business in 2016. Which lasted for about 18minths . Some residue income came also.
..invested heavily in Govt securities.(I had sold my car early 2016)
Joined a business on the sideline as business partner which pays me same amount of my salary every month (initially half my salary of every month till I doubled my investment last year).
Bought a car early of last quarter last year.
Been paying for a house I'm purchasing from LASG. I have less than 1.5M left to pay.
I am still looking for one more business to venture into to get my desired income target.
I even tried learning French language in between those business times for 9 months.
Since u have started processing ur Msc, stick with it, but invest ur money wisely in secured investment.
If u have age on ur side and money from ur parents is not a problem and u have that passion u can go for the pilot courses.

8m is much for masters, with 2m you are done with masters depending on the school immediately after MSc go for your PhD,sometimes the business might fall, what will you use to pay your workers? some of those people that their shop got burnt at Ochanja market they have not recovered any thing till now, that's business.
There are many opportunity in the education sector, August last year my school recruit 400 staff.
If you insist on starting a business you better meet someone that studied business management for proper advice.

The Op obviously meant Msc. Abroad not here in Nigeria.

But I Might still be wrong. Are there good schools abroad with tuition and all for N2m?

Please do business , age is a factor , you never tire to read book .
Use 1-2years and learn business under somebody then start your own.
Their are people without phd or msc earning more than people with those qualifications.
Get a good job and support it with business.
