If your a female, it good graduating with your father's surname. Let your maiden surname be on your certificate. Then after graduation, you can do change of name. Get affidavit, news paper publication to back it up. Your good to go.

Final year is a bit late. Wait till after NYSC so that your certificate and NYSC carry the same name.

Are you male or female? Change of name has no side effect strito senso. If you a male I will advise you change your name before graduation so it reflect on your certificate once and for all, if you female I will advise same although if you female you may still have to change your name later on.

MODIFIED: A copy of the newspaper publication indicating the change of name send a copy to the office of the registrar copy the office of the Dean of student affairs and if there is any other office you may be required to copy such as the Dean of your faculty, copy the offices as well this way there will be ZERO ish in processing your certificate due to any inconsistency as regard name in your O'level certificate.Its best you start a new chapter of your life (with the change of name ) with your certificate bearing such name n this will also be recorded in your NYSC discharge certificate

If you Change am u go do naming ceremony for the boys

Pls OP, do it after your NYSC to ensure uniformity of names on all your credentials. If you're a female and needs to secure a job, especially in paramilitary organizations, it'll be difficult to convince them that you aren't married. Just because of the different surnames on your credentials.

I have never replied any insult and i definitely wont start with you. I wasted my sch fees,fine;i too know,maybe;am the dirty one,fantastic! but remember i said"what do i know". So what if i don't know who you are,duhh you are not D owner of Amazon. anyway,I apologize if you think i wronged you.

OP this is the best advice you have at your disposal so take ot seriously and act fast. I was in yiur shoes b4 but at that point it was too late for me to recognise that and it has been causing me some serious issus ever since.

So get the news paper publication done asap after swearing and affidavit in a highcourt, then follow the process as advised above so that yiur nysc discharge certificate will bear the same name and that will follow with any other higher certificate you may want to have in the future including international passport, national ID that's if you havent gottwn any of these yet.

The best thing is to change after graduation... because our system is very slow in this country...

you can change it anytime you want,but i advice you do it after nysc,the main thing is to do it Legally

Its better you just allow the current process in the school to remain. Then, you can do a change of name after your graduation.
Please don't create a problem for yourself with school that it will become impossible to get your result, except the change of name is not for your current school use.
