Hardebayo:You see this fear you feel now...that is exactly what the media wants. You read in the news several weeks ago that Matuidi, Arteta and even Davido's Chioma have recovered. Even Prince Williams and Boris Johnson, as old as they are, have recovered. But those good news mean nothing to you. You are more interested in the bad news that is happening in New York, because.....your brain don't tell you that worse things have impacted the earth and its inhabitants and still left when their time is up. Let's be real. Considering the time we discovered the first case in Nigeria to this particular moment, coupled with how we Nigerians flouted lockdown rules, there is supposed to be very critical public health crisis at this moment. People are supposed to be dropping dead on the streets. Maybe it's because of our prayers and fasting. Or maybe the whole Nigerian version of the issue is a sham. But then, whatever that happens, expect more lockdowns. We as a third-world country cannot continue with economic activities at a time when first-world countries have paused theirs due to some issue which I think, is largely exclusive to them. That's how low Nigeria, and the rest of Africa are, among the league of nations. For I am very sure that when Africa experienced Ebola crisis, other parts of the world did not initiate lockdowns. And it will continue to be like this for a very long time, till Africa would rise from the ashes she has heaped on herself. |

Acidosis:That's the same question I keep asking these people. Those records are kept for future purposes, especially for research. They claim that the government is trying to instill fear simply because they don't do the math in their reports. For Pete's sake, common sense should let people know that number of people discharged and number of death cases are deducted from number of total confirmed cases to get the active cases. |

is it a must Nigeria should carry first on every bad thing among order country? see how our margin they sky rocket on this covid-19, no wonder we are called giant of Africa. It is when we all decide to stay completely indoor for the 2wks and with the help of govt. providing needful things that's when I think this margin will reduce. |

I am quite particular about the death figures... As I wrote in another thread, linking deaths to Covid-19 without regards to other severe and contributing, if not causative, ailments is unprofessional and dubious... Zimbabwe announced figures of hundreds deceased due to Malaria in the face of this Covid-19 pandemic. I can bet you some of those Malaria fatalities had contracted Covid-19 prior to dying. Covid-19 is bad, but that doesn't mean there aren't worse health issues plaguing us daily here. Let's take caution not to pile on figures for the sake of it. |

The NCDC should be held responsible for not heeding the warning on time to quickly ramp up testing. How can a country of 200million be doing mere 7,000 when poor Djibouti was doing more than that. As usual, the Nigerian factor set in. The ogas at the top were waiting for huge allocations first. This money, money mentally will ruin usvas a people. |

Jeferious:These people u mentioned have money & can comfortably get a personal ventilator. How many Nigerians can barely feed let alone having money for treatment? As at last week or so, we were around 55 total cases, but today we are confirming 86 cases in just one day! Wait till may ending before u start saying the bold, it is still too early. |

Hardebayo:Nigeria's case or situation can never come close to that of New York, not ever!!! This is not wishful thinking, but a simple observation... If it were going to happen, we ought to have more deaths by now, at least hundreds of critically ill people across the nation... Even in our ground zero (Lagos), this is not even the case, despite over a month of community spread and incubation. Don't be fooled by all the media noise here and lock down across the nation... Honestly, if most parts of Europe and US were to open up their nations today, within 2 days your own country will either start reducing number of confirmed cases, or declare infection under control! I can almost bet my all on this. I'm not really trying to make nonsense of their so called efforts, but believe me, Nigeria has been spared by forces beyond our comprehension and control... We should be grateful and hopeful, not thinking or believing the worst. |

My concern is that Nigeria is lawless and in all fairness, this lockdown has not been observed so the numbers are not shocking. People are worried about going back to work but I assure you, that is the least thing to be concerned of now. I live in the United Kingdom and work in the health sector. Nigeria is not ready |

| Re: 86 New Cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria. Total 627. 170 discharged. 21 deaths by Angelfrost(m): 6:56am On Apr 20, 2020 |
xrayj:Nope.. May is rather a stretch!!! The virus has a max of 14 to 24 days incubation period, hundreds have been infected since early March, even before the lock down... Do the math!!! Anyone succumbing to the infection in May would have gotten infected not earlier than middle or late April which would further question the point of this protracted lock down... This is basic mathematics!!! Nations worst hit than Nigeria, currently worse and at higher risk than Nigeria are currently beginning to reassess the lock down and their economic revival... Protests have already started in America and Brazil to end the lock downs. These are nations we can never come close to in terms of pandemic impact. The figures you are seeing were largely infected before the lockdown and most entered the nation recently... |

LEBEfirstson:U are the mumu here As at Feb 25th USA was just around 55 cases, first week of April they were around 80k. Don't be too much in a hurry, we barely started this ending march/April, wait till may before u start running your mouth. You have no idea of what is ahead. |
| Re: 86 New Cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria. Total 627. 170 discharged. 21 deaths by xrayj(m): 7:03am On Apr 20, 2020 |
Angelfrost:U don't get it! U are talking as if people are obeying the lockdown? Go outside & see how people are still moving about. Same happened in these countries that were hit. Those that already have it, will still find a way to spread it. That is how it increases. How do u think the virus covered the whole world? U think all the cases coming up now were initial cases? Let's wait till may. We are already running towards 100s per day, when it gets to 500/1k per day, u will see how fast the figures will escalate. |
