The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha and some other members of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, who were at the burial rites of the late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, did not self isolate in line with the directive from Presidency.

They all attended the daily briefing of the task force on Monday. Many Nigerians had condemned the conduct of those present at the burial of the late Kyari last Saturday.

Some of the attendees of the burial ceremony were barred from the Presidential Villa advised to immediately commence 14 days self-isolation.

Those at the burial rites were: SGF Boss Mustapha, National Coordinator, Dr. Sani Aliyu; Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika; Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services, Sadiya Farouq, who was at the Defence House resident of the late chief of staff.

Sadiya Farouq was the only one who did not attend the Monday’s briefing. The SGF, in his opening address, admitted that mistakes were made and regretted the PTF’s actions.

Mustapha said: “The PTF recognizes, regrettably, the unintentional violation of the principles and protocols that form the core of our messaging to Nigerians, at the funeral of the late Chief of Staff.

These principles for emphasis, include: the guidance provided on mass gatherings; social distancing; Personal Hygiene; and restriction of movements. “Lessons have been learnt and appropriate measures have been taken to close all gaps.

We assure all Nigerians of safety & the determination of the PTF to combat the pandemic.” On his part, the Nat. Coordinator of the task force, Dr. Sani Aliyu, who was also at the burial and equally attended the Monday briefing, apologized for the mistakes made at Kyari’s burial.

He said: “The PTF will like to acknowledge and apologise for the mistakes that were made regarding the burial of the late Chief of Staff. We realised that crowd control failed, we have learned from this and we will ensure that future events are adequately regulated and follow the task force’s protocols.

“The Gudu Cemetery had since been decontaminated, the personal protective equipment discarded at the site; decontaminated being burned and discarded according to the NCDC guidelines.

Body well prepared – Aliyu The National Coordinator of the task force said Kyari’s body was properly prepared in line with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC’s guidelines.

He said: “I would like to further clarify the issue of COVID-19 and the burial processes. Contrary to what is on social media, the body of the late Chief of Staff was properly prepared for burial, according to NCDC guidelines and the Islamic faith.

“The bodies of persons with COVID-19, as stated clearly by the WHO guidelines except in cases of viral haemorr-hagic fever and cholera, dead bodies are generally not infectious.

To date, there’s no evidence of persons having become infected from exposure to the bodies of persons who had died of COVID-19. “Therefore, we will like to further assure the public that we will continue to follow the guidelines and protocols we had produced.

The NCDC guidelines are very much reflecting the WHO guidelines. “We’ll also like to assure the public that the task force takes its Presidential mandate seriously and is committed to executing it to the best of its ability.

We ask for the public to continue holding us accountable for our actions.“We read your comments on social media, we listen to you and also acknowledge the issues that might arise, please continue to do so, it is the only way we can continue to improve and fight this big challenges we have.

“The task force will like to acknowledge the prime role that the Chief of Staff played in establishing the Presidential Task Force, he fired the first shot against COVID-19. We will continue to honour his memory and we will continue to do everything possible to overcome this pandemic.”

See them making silly joke and excuses of a global pandemic just because they feel they're above the law. Even any body fluid from these Covid19 patients are assumed infectious let alone their remains.

Otherwise why were the burial party spotting PPE suite, facemask, handgloves, safety boots etc though not all of them were well kitted? What kind of leaders do Nigeria have? sad

They should not allow them in aso rock.

Let them do whatever they want.

they refused to isolate because they knew who they buried

it was never the body of Abba Kyari

why will you waste your time in isolation when you know you're not infected

Although, understandably, things happened very quickly within a short space of time, the poor planning and unpreparedness that characterized Abba Kyari's burial were embarrassing to say the least.

Apart from social distancing, the funniest blunder was, rightly, giving PPE suit to the men who handled Abba Kyari's cadaver but, wrongly, abandoning them to wallow in confusion as to what to so with the outfit after the burial. One of the men looked right and looked left and then decided that best thing to do was to 'jejely' dump the goddam dress by the roadside and be free.

In short, what happened at Abba Kyari's burial was a dangerous dance with death.

Why must they refuse to quarantine & even attend the briefing? Even the supposedly educated ones are just plain stupid or arrogantly ignorant. This is a global pandemic for goodness sake.

This incompetent government full of misfits never disappoints when it comes to keeping simple lawss and rules even the on s they made.

Just imagine the show of shame they put up ever since Abba kyari contacted the disease.

First ABBA Kyari was not supposed to be treated in a private facility , but they flew him down to a private hospital in Lagos against lay down guide lines by NCDC that no private hospital is authorized to treat covid-19 patients.

When he died, the body was supposed to be disposed by NCDC as said by the Honorable Minister of Disinformation in the person of Lai Mohammed, but rather, it was flown from Lagos to Abuja for burial.

During the burial ceremony in the cemetery, social distancing and other saftey guidelines where thrown to the wind, the greatest embarrassment is that the burial was attended by top government functionaries who are supposed to abide strictly by the rules their government set, buy no, they are always lawless.

Now the SGF has refused to isolate.

This is exactly why the Nation is in chaos five years down the line of this government taking over the reigns of power.

How sophisticated and educated Nigerians elected bunch of incompetent misfits and dullards to pilot the affairs of this country in this 21st century remains the with wonder of the world.

You need to understand that these guys are zombies

Abba Kyari was the one operating the remote.

They went to bury him now they are on auto pilot.

UK need to design another remote so we can reboot them and give them a new master.

Why? Now tell me this is a we are saying, just because your a leader, that doesn't mean that you're above the law, abi what is all these nonsense for God sake, going on a self isolation you refuse, is it not for your own sake and firntge sake if people around you, so what is his problem self. Nigerian is currently facing a great decrease in economic depression, there is a company which I will like us to partner with at this period of time which will save us from the forthcoming recession. Just visit [url=https://nairaland-seun.web.appLOCKDOWNPERIOD>>>[/url] and get in touch with them, am sure you won't regret you did. Now your boss kyari is dead, and we all know the cause of his death, so definitely he might have been infected also, who knows, or should we just say, this man is on a mission, because if not he will have accept to go on isolation. Please it's high time we enforce the law that states nobody is above the law.

This makes it look as if he was truly buried secretly in this home town borno
Someone said that they buried an empty cu

I don't want to believe that
If true, then we are finished in this country
(If he wasn't dead ,we won't have known that he went on a private treatment not in the custody of NCDC,

Some people swore that there was no way Buhari did not contract the virus after Kyari.

I haven't heard a word from those people.

Imoh555:
The person that was buried was not kyari
Kyari died in London 2weeks before it was announced in Nigeria and was cremated in London

You have started again!

You swore that Buhari had the virus.

Now you're swearing that Kyari died 2 weeks ago.

Pls respect your age and stop peddling silly and unconfirmed rumours.

You're too old for this.
