The Theatrics Of Ben Ayade by Tabithatim: 11:16am On Apr 22, 2020
By Etang Obatem

One of the Governor’s in Nigeria with a nack for hugging the headlines for a multiplicity of reasons ranging from grammatical bombasticity to outright fan-fare and grandstanding is Gov. Ben Ayade.

While his swag and verbousness has drawn a lot of admiration, There is also a question mark about his leadership style and the application of theatrics in governance. His annual budget speeches; for instance, have continued to elicit a mixture of chuckles and dismay by the share grammatical opulence he displays. His 2020 ‘Budget of Olimpotic Meristemasis still reverberates.

All these may be classified as part of political gamesmanship but when human lives come into the mix it triggers a surge of goose bumps. The current COVID19 pandemic has opened a new vista especially considering the facts that it caught everyone unprepared. No one ever imagined that one day the world would shutdown in the face of an invisible enemy.

In Cross River State, Governor Ben Ayade has perfected the act of churning out one comical nollywood script after the other. From pretending to act as boarder post guard to his numerous unguarded statements to the theatrics of the face mask production; one thing Ben Ayade has failed to take into account is the risk to human lives in his state.

The 33 medical Doctors under the employ of his state; who for the fear of loosing their jobs have opted to soldier on with long faces have raised the flag at various times about the huge number of contact traces that have not been followed up in Cross River state. One of the doctors confided that a neighboring state sent a list of almost 30 contacts who are still to be tested.

No one is sure that since the COVID19 pandemic episode launched off, the Cross River State Government has published any statistics showing how many tests have been conducted so far and in which labs. One is tempted to think the Professor is playing a game of numbers as far as the COVID19 pandemic is concerned.

In spite of this obvious act seeming of abdication of his responsibilities, Gov Ben Ayade still has his hoard of admirers. But governance shouldn’t just be about fanfair but meeting the needs of the masses. COVID19 shouldn’t be politicized!

Worst governor ever, the worst is that he is often hailed.
He is still owing the contractors of the said isolation centre he built.
This man bought almost 20+ cars for operation covid-19, instead of buying ventilators .
He said openly that as far as he is concerned, social distancing isn't needed so far as you're putting on your face mask.
He claimed over 8,000 youths would be employed and paid 30k monthly.... Without no medium for registration o, he said "if your interested, just write your name and number, we will call you" cheesy
The next week, thousand of youths were in the Governors office trying to write names violating the social distancing protocol and we heard many came from even nearby towns like Uyo and Rivers.
I tire for that man.

Ayande is the product of the very politics we have all have grown to embrace but must change.

He, like every other governor, will hold back good governance and appease to the citizens with sacrifices: senseless appointments, stomach infrastructures and the likes of it.

Everyone among the 427 appointees has families members. They sure will celebrate the appointments. They are happy that one of their own was remembered. But of what uses are the appointments to the development of cross river state?

I can bet it with anyone that should Ayade contest another time in Office, he would still win. That's the height of our gullibility. Those who will vote him in won't be critical before they do so.

The difference between this one and Ikpeazu is that Ikpeazu has a PhD, while this one is a Professor. Both of them are suffering from Olimpotic Meristemasis.

Didn't expect anything good from Ayade, so he hasn't disappointed me yet, same with Buhari, Okezuo ( Okezuo is out of this world), Abdulrahman Abdurazak ( that one is spiritual, always disappearing and appearing), oyetola ( that one is a dormant partner)

ayade try pass udom by far...

we don't even ever get to see our governor or hear of him.
our own theatric puts peoples life directly in danger, like the time we politicized the infected people record.
ayade did lock down calabar's borders on time... my friend came in from lag last Saturday, and according to him if u pay u can enter and go out, in calabar, shade is the one there, so be you who, you can't get in.

there is movement in calabar life is going on well, the nose mask they are producing can be seen on the streets.

in uyo, all the factory of udom are audio, you can't see even the much talked about toothpick... Ayade might be a comic relief, but a comic actor is better than a deadbeats actor

This guy is one of the worst person ever to govern a group of people anywhere in the world except my Gov., whose only developmental achievement is to battle his Party chairman on media platforms and expending over a billion Naira on coronavirus on less than 20 known cases
