Can’t you see the highest level of obvious partiality and biasness on Nairaland. You deem fit to move all Muslim related post to front page now. Anyways it’s never a problem to anyone but y’ll need to check your life. You aren’t different from our so leaders.
And I haven’t gotten answer to my question of why Muslim eat in the morning and still claim they are fasting. Some should kindly enlighten me. I used to stay in same compound with a Muslim family last rahmadan. She’ll pound yam, get nice meat and soft drinks. Some do eat semo and lots more. So how you consider it as fasting with such diet taken.
they're deceived by Satan

Thanks for your question. Ramadan fasting is a spiritual exercise by the Muslims all over the world. As a spiritual exercise, there's a well laid rule on how it's done. The rule is, one is at liberty to eat and drink before the rise of Fajr. so, literally Ramadan fasting is done between the hour of fajr rise till sunset . Also, the main aim is not to starve ourselves but an opportunity to move close to Allah, the one and only God, the creator of the universe!.
Once again, Thanks for question
May God answer prayers. Gracias

before I will answer this your question, please can you give us the definition of what you regard or consider as an ideal fasting.

you know we cannot have a fake unless there is an original somewhere.

by your comment, you seem to declare the islamic form of fasting imperfect or a type of fasting that is not worth to be considered a fasting, that does not meet up to a set standard.

we would like to know that standard that may or will declare islamic form of fasting as imperfect or a kind of fasting that does not meet the standard.

You are welcome. Though someone has already clarified it and I seem to agree to what he said cos he made it clear to me that the rahmadan fasting is more of a time to get moved closer to Allah and not really about the fasting, that Muslims are permitted to eat before done certain hours of the day which he gave it a name though I forgot. He said the fasting part of it is just to deny oneself from food so as to seek Allah eyes in holiness. But since you considered the Muslim fasting as been standard I’ll like to tell you fasting is total abstinence from food and denial of oneself from the pleasure and demand of stomach.

Five Juma’at days without Juma’at prayers. Ramadan without taraweeh and Eid prayers Dhul-Hajj likely without Hajj. These are unusual occurrences. O Allah! We seek Your intervention. Forgive us, have Mercy on us and heal the world of Covid-19 and other ailments.

I guess you should give it a try. Eat around 4am and then don't take anything until 7pm that day. You will get your answer

Ramadan: A month of Mercy and Mindfulness of Allah.

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ
All praises due to Allah for His mercies and bounties. All praises due to Him, who granted us life when we were lifeless and would grant us death and then resurrect us on a Day with the equivalence of 50000 years(Q70.4)

It's another month of Mercy, a month where the gates if jahannam are shut and the gates of Jannah are opened. An opportunity to start afresh and renew our commitment with our Rabb. In spite of the current global pandemic and financial crisis, we're indeed grateful to witness yet another Ramadan. May it not be our last. Ameen.

What's so special about the Month of Ramadan?
Allah revealed the specific reason why this month stands above others in Q2.185:

This is the Month of the Qur'an, the ultimate guidance to Mankind. The unadulterated revelation of Allah, revealed to the best of all mankind through the best of Angels in the best Month of the year.

Why do we fast?
A lot of theories have come up regarding our reasons for fasting. Some say it's an avenue to feel the pangs of hunger and have some feelings of what the impoverished go through. Some say it's an avenue to reduce our meals and therefore shed some weight and be healthier. While these reasons are okay, Allah 'azza wa ja'al reveals the actual reason in Q2.183: .

The reason stated here is that we may be 'tattaqoon' i.e. pious or mindful of Allah. How is this so? Allah is telling us to abstain for a whole month from that which is halal and tayyib (good). Think about it, we see plates of delicious, nutritious meals and drinks but we stay away, even if no one is around. This is mindfulness of Allah. We know he is Al Baseer, and Ar-Rakib so abstain from the Halal food and halal relationship with our spouses just for the fear of Allah. Allah is showing us in essence that if we can abstain from the Halal for a full month, then we should have no problems abstaining from the haram all year round. Yes it's achievable if you have taqwa. The purpose of fasting this month is to build our taqwa and grow our imaan. May Allah accept our acts of ibaadah this month and beyond.

Remember, this is the month of Mercy, as we fast with our bodies we purify our souls. We should seek 'afuw and istighfar as much as possible this month. Now is the time to optimise our good deeds acts of ibaadah. Remember each good deed earned this month is multiplied, so grab the opportunity.

May Allah grant us ease this month and see us through to the end and keep providing for us.

مرحب يا رمضان

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركة

I have also come across the answer already posted as regard your question and the aswer is suffice。

going by your definition of a perfect form of fasting, one could conclude that Ramadan does not lack any of the elements you mentioned in the definition thus making it a perfect form of fasting by your definition.

the thing is that hunger is an element that makes up a fasting. but fasting in Islam is characterized by some elements that go beyond hunger as against the general notion mostly held by people who have no indepth knowledge of it. each of these elements serves different purpose. for instance, hunger would make the rich who fast the month of ramadan have an experience of what the poor go through.

summarily, fasting goes beyond food, there are still a lot of thing one has to deprive oneself while fasting apart from food.

Every religion has his rules and regulations. what is fasting to you might not be to someone or does fasting has a specific definition?

Then after Ramadan, we all fall back to our usual Selfish, pervasive, hateful, and evil ways!!!

There was no religion in the days of my forefathers, but there was "fear and caution". Today we have religion but no fear!!
