Researchers have identified a total of four cases of newborn babies with COVID-19 infection in China. In all cases the babies experienced only mild symptoms with none requiring intensive care or mechanical ventilation according to research published in in the European Respiratory Journal today (April 9, 2020).

This shows that there are Antibodies in their bodies working.

This is interesting... WHO also says this. Though data is limited but presently no evidence of higher risk.

The virus to date has not been found in samples of amniotic fluid or breastmilk

Mayb experts should use this as test subject to know ascertain its gene adaptability and mutation in a age grouping.

And I think there should be no basis for extending the lockdown, scary though it may be.

The use of facemask, good hygiene (e.g. washing hands regularly, not touching face, wiping surfaces with mixture of bleach, water and disinfectant) and social distancing should keep us safe for the meantime.

I think we are only a few months away from a viable Covid-19 vaccine or drug. For example,

https://m.jpost.com/health-science/coronavirus-drug-to-be-tested-on-patients-in-israel-625674/amp

https://www.timesofisrael.com/2-israeli-covid-19-patients-improve-in-experimental-drug-trial/

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1180021

So until then, we can make do with the preventive measures while we get the economy working again. Unfortunately, the genetically-weak or diseased will lose their lives; but then, it is what it is.

My 2 kobo.

I remembered when 2 French doctors said they should test some trial drugs on Africans, all over social was shout about racism, I asked some doctors, they said it was a good idea of testing the trail drugs on Africans to see how they will react because some drugs react differently on different race, these doctors i asked gave instances of diabetics drugs, they know the type of drugs they will give to a white patient vs a black patient suffering from the same disease.

URGENT SOS:

THE TRUTH ABOUT COVID 19 IN NIGERIA

Yesterday, a friend called me that he was having difficulty breathing, he’s been weak and has pains in the heart.

I immediately told him to race to Landmark isolation Centre in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos. He went there straight but was turned back, as he was told that it’s only meant for those who have tested positive already. I encouraged him to wait till day break so he could go to Yaba, the main COVID 19 center in Lagos.

On reaching out to Yaba, he was told to describe his symptoms on record by way of sms and send it. In response, he was told that he could not be tested this week again as they are already booked for this week. He will be programmed for next week for his test. So, what happens to him between now and next week?

A similar situation was reported in Ajah early this week. They called NCDC in Lagos and they kept postponing the test. By the time NCDC officers got to Ajah the man had died and the family resisted them from carrying the corpse.

So, the reality is that Nigeria has no capacity for COVID 19 presently and the govt is not telling us the truth.

Please do all you can to stay safe, to be sure that you’re not infected at all, as it now takes prayer and connection to even be tested how much less get treated.

What the NCDC told the nation is that people are not coming up for tests and that there is capacity.

Please do all your best to stay safe and if you have any connection to help my friend get tested quickly, please do help me.

God bless you all.

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN
Lekki, Lagos.

True, but it will trickle down to everyone eventually. Remember, people travel up and down the earth. I'm sure they will understand it is in everyone's interest that everybody gets vaccinated or treated. Good example is yellow fever vaccination which is required for international travel.

Recall that there are vaccines that work against the Ebola virus. They are now available for everyone who asks. The same will happen for Covid-19.

As for mutation, according to experts the virus mutations, like what’s going around in Italy and also New York, don’t seem to be any more infectious or fatal than the original strain that appeared in Wuhan, China, in late December.

"Nearly all mutations will make some part of the virus work less well than before. The most common thing is for mutations to appear and die out again quickly,” said Dr. Benjamin Neuman, the head of the biology department at Texas A&M University-Texarkana.

The vaccines will only be available to Africans when bill gates want it to be.

Reality check, most of Ebola drugs, HIV/AIDs drugs were made easily available to us, thanks to bill gates and his wife.

In Europe and america, many are against the proposal of vaccination of the populace by Bill Gates, anyway, he might make it work here in Africa.

Good morning everybody and happy Sunday.

So, I'm thinking.

Since this Covid-19 pandemic started in December last year, infection and mortality rates in the 0 - 20 years population segment is less than 0.5% (my assumption, based on reporting in the US, UK, Spain, France, China); maybe 0% sef smiley.

Is there something science can learn from this population segment? For example, do this population segment have the so-called "herd immunity?"

Can someone shed light on this? @Carshopper, @radautoworks, @bigleaf1006, @sexylassie, @dru23, @Izzou and my other bosses.

You are self fish, you are not thinking about doctors who might die from this virus because they are the first contact, almost 45 doctors have been infected by the virus in Nigeria, Many of them have families too and are bread winners for their families, if we allow this to escalate, do you know the number of people that will die, from doctors, old people to, young people with sickle cell diseases and lot more.

Or do you think, people want to lose their grand ma and pa or their parents and families.

I think this lockdown should be a lesson to you that having only one source of income is bad, maybe its now time for you to be innovative. Also maybe it time for you to rethink having that 3 to 5 children you always think of.

That is the crux of my question.

I have not found a satisfactory definition of viruses, I have read that viruses can be said to be the link between living and non-living things, I have also read that viruses can be likened to protein molecules.

In short, the matter tire me.

But then, where was HIV, SARS, Corona viruses and every other "newly discovered" viruses during the thousands of years that mankind has inhabited this planet ?

I don't know why people think facemasks and hand sanitzers will automatically immune you from contacting the virus.

Doctors and nurses use this things daily and still get infected and once they get infected, the whole ward gets infected too.

People should stay at home simple, only go out to buy essential things.

Viruses exist naturally, but they can be genetically modified and turned into weapons. So its possible Covid-19 is a "weaponized" virus.

Let me give an analogy. Toluene, sulfuric acid and nitric acid all exist in nature and are harmless.

But put concentrated forms of all three together ... and boom! You have an explosive that can bring down a 10-storey building.

True talk. It's even scary to be 'normally' sick these days. Two weeks ago, my wife was having cough and a little feverish and she said something was in her throat and her Boss is Chinese... cheesy cheesy

I would not lie, I was a kinda scared. Her Boss didn't travel throughout last year so there was no fear that she might have contracted the virus at work. But me nko Me wey dey waka...

I never never even suggested to her that she could have C-19... cheesy cheesy We just treated normally, and she's fine now.

A friend told me of a girl who had an asthma attack and nearly died because she didn't have her drugs with her and no one wanted to help her.

It's crazy out there and it would get worse before it gets better...
Haha... Nothing kills faster and more than fear of the unknown. But thank God ahes fine now. Funny menh...

Asthmatic patients should stay close to rhwir loce once these period and maintain serious social distance from strangers, wakaholic and isolation themselves if possible. But the reurh is asthmatic patients can't isolate themselves else they might just suffocate at night with no one being around them.

If the Lagos State governor should lift the restriction by next week, B-Automobile Nigeria Limited will comply with necessary measures put in place but business will commence at a very cautious manner.

Any repair to be done will require all our customers to call before hand and an appointed time will allocated to all customer, for proper services.

Due to the nature of the Pandemic we will be working with a customer at a time no more crowded workspace and all and all customer are advice to come with a protective gear to the work space.
Thanks
