It appears a lot of people have problems with English. You guys should look up the word 'EVIDENCE'.

The body is not saying that the natural antibodies will not work, just that THERE IS INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE TO SUGGEST IT WILL.

They are just advising countries that want to introduce the so called antibody passport to exercise some caution.

Science works with EVIDENCE not imbecilic conspiracy theories.

Bacteriologist:
There has been at least 8 strains of COVID-19 identified so far. What I think the WHO is saying is that if you get infected by one strain of Covid-19 you might become immune to that particular strain but still remain susceptible to other strains after recovering.

Also, antibodies have been found in some recovered patients but they are not enough to prevent reinfection.

This virus is more dangerous than we think folks. We are in for a really long ride.

If the antibodies are not enough to prevent reinfection, it means there is still a high chance of being reinfected by the same strain and one idiot here yesterday was taking about herd immunity.

What are the chances that vaccine would even work?

The truth is that even WHO seem to be confused about this coronavirus pandemic.

They should desist from making uniformed comments about the virus but activate their research teams to embark on thorough scientific researches about the virus and its epidemiology. This would enable them come up with evidence-based information and not throw about unresearched news that would end up creating more hysteria about the virus.

I strongly believe that those who recover from the infection won't be reinfected, else, China would have had things worse than it did!

Then test it and see the outcome. You are the number one body addressing health issues. And u come up to tell us this at this age? It shows incomortency. Infect animals and carry out ur research and Pple that has neen cured Take their blood samples and do ur research and draw ur conclusions. So we know once and for all.

This topic and its uncertainty needs to stop.

So how is the Vaccine expected to work when a full infection can't create enough antibodies to stall reinfection so hows a docile vaccine strain of infection expected to guarantee that ?
my brother, I think that's why the malaria vaccine is elusive.

So in other words, a vaccine is useless. Infact there can't even be a vaccine as this virus doesn't even stimulate the immune system well enough to produce enough antibodies and it mutates too quickly. Imagine Andrew Cuomo gov of NY said the strain of the virus ravaging NY came from Europe and not China meaning we now have New COVID-20. Gawd epp us!

Political leaders are under immense pressure to reopen their economies, one can understand and appreciate that.

But we must work with evidence. Not all viruses act the same way in the presence of antibodies.

For instance, the immunity one gets from the common cold, (which incidentally belongs to the same family as the sars covid 2) is virtually useless in preventing reinfection, ditto for HIV.

But on the other hand, the immunity from sars covid 1 (ie the variant that occurred in 2003) lasts for a few months. That of flu is about a few years.

Will this variant tow the same Line? We simply don't know YET. So we must be cautious. That's what WHO is saying.

Pls educate yourselves.

Vaccine is not useless. Yes it mutates, but not as fast as say HIV, so a vaccine might still help. What researchers are now working on is a bioengineered type that will have a wider coverage and perhaps last for a while before booster is required. Oxford just rolled out theirs. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Hopefully we all stay safe and take this thing seriously.
Is not only here in Nigeria people have downplayed the severity of this virus, it is everywhere..... People think it's a joke until it hits them.

Don't wait till you catch the virus before you do the right thing..... Try and maintain social distance and avoid touching doorknobs, railings and physical contact.

The story of the modern man.

Not willing to accept responsibility for their actions.

It is your right to be tested Yada Yada Yada.
