Newwer releases are not as bad but are they as good as SD, no.

Redmi 6a/Note 8 pro too has Mtk but no battery drain problem

Erm, phone is not as stable as the snapdragon version plus it's dead in terms of software update is concerned. It's stuck at miui 9 whereas even the Redmi note 3 special edition got miui 10.

the only good manageable mtk I have seen is Redmi 6a
