PTF Announces Guidelines For Easing Of Lockdown

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, gives a press briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja on April 29, 2020.

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) has released the guidelines for the ease of COVID-19 guidelines which will come into effect on May 4.

In a briefing on Wednesday, PTF Chairman and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, noted that banks and offices will reopen next week.

The SGF, however, insisted that educational institutions will still remain shut nationwide as precautionary steps to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

“In line with Mr President’s directives in paragraphs 34 to 41 of his broadcast, the Presidential Task Force has developed guidelines. The gradual reopening of the economy will stand a total of six weeks broken into three tranches of two weeks each.

“To the avoidance of doubt, the following clarifications are provided – The overnight curfew is applicable nationwide. The inter-state travels are banned except for the movement of goods, agro products, petroleum products, essential services as directed by Mr President,” he said.

Ahead of the reopening of offices, the SGF warned corporate organisations to take some precautionary measures before resuming.

Some of these include maintaining social distancing, making available hand sanitisers, and fumigation of their environment among others.

“The management of various offices, premises and businesses that will be gradually reopened are mandated to ensure that the following preparatory steps are taken:

“Fumigation and decontamination, an arrangement made for physical distancing, provision of hand sanitisers and handwashing facilities, application of the policy of mandatory use of face masks, provision of thermometers for temperature checks,” he said.

While calling on organisations to give special consideration which must be given to persons living with disabilities, Mustapha asked business managers to increase communication with their staff on COVID-19.

Re: Guidelines For Easing Of Lockdown By Presidential Task Force (PTF) by ignis:
The new guidelines on lockdown is the most sensible we can do for now. Gradual easing of lockdown, banning interstate travel, banning religious gatherings and imposing dusk to dawn curfew will help to reopen the cities better.

However wailers and haters will come out openly to condemn this great initiative without providing a better option.

I never like PMB and Federal government, but I must commend this idea.

God bless Nigeria.

Time to go the HIV way.

Continue with normal life with great precaution. Some will die which is normal lockdown or no lockdown. Good thing the death rate is very low in this clime, just around 3%.

With time, the virus will ease out.

Re: Guidelines For Easing Of Lockdown By Presidential Task Force (PTF) by seunlayi(m): 7:38pm On Apr 29, 2020
This is pathetic for a govt to act this way, this is not in the interest of the masses, they are trying to avoid paying palliatives to the masses, to ensure money keep coming in for the govt, to toy with the lives and health of the people. Unlike other countries like Ghana etc, how many people were tested? The virus is now spreading at the community level, and you want all to go out especially in lagos where lockdown can never be partial when you see peoppe trouping out.... I pray this won't spell doom for my country Nigeria

Re: Guidelines For Easing Of Lockdown By Presidential Task Force (PTF) by Nobody:
Please prevail on organizations to rather cut down salaries than cut down staff strength since work hours would be reduced.

Cinema workers
Restaurants workers
Beach companies
Manufacturing coys
Schools
Worship places
Event planners
Travel agencies
Airlines
Shopping malls
Etc...

It is well..

They are trying to dodge payment of palliatives to people after receiving several donations and allocating money. This is scam. God help your country

Re: Guidelines For Easing Of Lockdown By Presidential Task Force (PTF) by mysteriousman(m): 7:39pm On Apr 29, 2020
The government has diplomatically extended this lockdown, if interstate movement has been banned, then surely most offices will not open as some employees are not resident where they work and most university students are from numerous states across the federation.
If you must go out you must wear a mask and there are no mask available even after condemning the ones produced locally as not protective.
Nigeria which way forward

This is too early, they battle is yet to be won, the enemy is gaining more ground and govt want us to be at ease just because they can't afford to support the masses. This is dubious.

I pray God on High will help us all thru the impending danger
