The Rivers State Government Honorably headed by Nyesom Wike has given reasons as to why the State rejected the Federal Government Palliatives.

Nyesom Wike rejected a trailer-load sent to the state as palliatives from the Federal Government because the rice was not good for human consumption.

This is as he confirmed that six more persons have tested positive to coronavirus in the state, bringing to 13, the total number of cases recorded in the state.

The governor said the state government will challenge the decision of the Federal Government to remove N11Billion from the Federation Account for the funding of the Nigeria Police without the consent of the state government.

Wike, who addressed a televised press conference in Port Harcourt on Friday, said it was a show of insult for the Federal Government to tell the state government to go to Cross River State to get its own share of the palliatives.

He said: “You don’t have to loss your dignity because you are a poor. Come to think of it, we are not the only state that rejected the Federal Government palliatives.

“Oyo State rejected it, Akwa Ibom State rejected it. They are not edible. They even told us to go to Cross River State to carry a trailer-load of rice. I said no, I cannot go to.......

As a matter of fact we have been eating granite mixed with rice, I have bought and ate gala where production Date is a month away from the date I bought it. Food that is not good for human consumption has become our daily bread.

Just because u didn't check production/expiry date in food doesn't mean I don't, out of 10foods u buy, there is a high chance that one will have past it's expiry date or not yet the day of production.
Anyone who didn't notice this doesn't check the date on items bought.
Except u have not eaten rice for a year now, there is no way u haven't eaten made in Nigerian rice.
If u eat dried fish, there is a high chance u have also eaten maggot, 95% of Nigerians have eaten food not meant for human consumption, don't come here and form holier than thou

My question is why is it that when the pallatives is for Southern part they will remove it from Custom ware house but when it is for the Northern part then it will drawn from the Silos.

The annoying thing about this FG is, I wonder how d govt shut down Lagos and Ogun for an average of 5 weeks and we only hear of palliatives on media. Immediately Kano was shut down, FG sent 110 trucks of grains, this is beside the one sent by first Lady. Govt sent taskforce immediately to Kano and got WHO and UN to deploy 3000 personnels to Kano. Is FG now telling us by this action that the south is not important?

I agree that some of the rice is expired, thats just reasonable as it has been kept in warehouses for years. Its smuggled rice seized by the Nugerian Customs.
Its the same rice being distributed to all.... the claim that northerners are eating exotic/unexpired rice is pure deceit and lies meant to cause unrest. Northerners no dey even check expiry date, if its edible no matter the date we go chop am.
