I have people around me who wants male children at all cost.

One already has seven female children and still counting all in the name of getting a male child.

From my little experience, apart from the idea of a male child bearing the family's name, the female child is more useful.

It's my aunt that fill concern about her parents and that of her husband. She has to be on his neck before he agrees to go see even his parents. As, for me, I spend more on my parents in-law more than my parents, all thanks to my wife being the only girl among six children.

My sister shows more concern and care more about our parents.

So, my question is, why the crazy rush for male children when in the long run, my beautiful daughters will look after me more than my sons, if any? Are male children actually overrated?

In a bid to make a case for your argument, you inadvertently exposed yourself as that male child who is overrated and useless to his own parents.

I believe it's your own demons that are pursuing you, this is why you're so comfortable assuming that most men are like you who don't take care of their parents because they're married to a woman.

we are Africans and as Africans the men believes that only the male child can keep the existence of his lineage(sad but true).So male children are not overrated but very important to an African man.

No, a male child is not overrated. Of course, a female child is equal to a male child and reasonableness doesn't know gender.

Truth, however, is that you and all the males around you are unreasonable, citing your own confession - stop using your group as a standard for every other male.

I insist you go back and read well... I didn't say my sister gives more than I, she only cares and shows concern. Moreso,who says she can't do more, isn't that what is prevalent today? Except you are not current or not a family man
