I didn't reference movies though, moreover movies will have you believe ar-15s are deadlier after all they appears to be very badass guns.

You're right about the range, but most mass shooters are never 400 meters away from their targets, infact anyone that wants to record a high number of kill will advoid unnecessary distance.

Now about rounds yes, the normal ar-15 magazine can carry many bullets than say a short gun, but do you know in Canada for decades there has been a limited number of bullet that every gun magazine can have? if I recall rightly it is a maximum of 10 rounds, violation of that is a gross criminal offense.

So the same limitation you get with a short gun you will also have with the AR, at least in Canada.

Moreover, what most people are intentionally avoiding which is the most important factor is that the guns used for these crimes are illegally gotten, they're bought from the black market, any such illegally gotten guns will never meet any of the requirements such as limitation of ammo etc, or being coverted to semi-auto from automatic.

so how will they stop criminals from getting guns from their ever willing sources?

I still don't understand why high calibre assault weapons are sold to the general public, not as if there's a war going on. They should be banned!

Yes, The Prime Minister said in his speech something like ' These gun are designed to kill more people, as many as possible in a short moment'

Here, i gave the range when you mentioned the impact of shotgun. When there's shot fire anywhere, people disperse, take cover and try to escape. If the shooter can get a clean shot, no matter how far the target (within 400m), he can take his target out compared to shotgun.

Here, as a mass shooter, the action/plan is illegal already. They won't give a Bleep about the law or limitation or anything. They will go for the highest capacity mags available, either black market or smuggling.

Now that assault/military grade weapons have been banned, it means no civilian/business can display, purchase or own them. No sales and production/importation will be controlled by the government henceforth.

The source will now be operating illegally and in fear. Police will start investigating bursting their operations due to this development.

Most times, demands dictate to source.

I wonder o, even in US.

Is 9mm, glock handguns(semi-auto), shotguns and high caliber hunting rifle not enough for self defense/protection
