One of the things the elderly need more to stay health and live long is proper information concerning their health. A lot of old people die of so many sicknesses that could have been prevented at the early stage. If you observe closely you will notice that there is increase in health care seeking behavior among the elderly.

The elderly one needs proper care and attention to stay healthy and it is the duty of their respective family to care for the elderly. However most of the health care facilities in Nigeria are not properly equipped with all the necessary facilities to care for the elderly. Most of the supervisors in tertiary institution especially those in the health department formed Undergraduate Project Topics for their students on health care seeking behavior.
From the statistics noted by most private hospitals in Nigeria show that the elderly seeks for the following whenever they visit the hospital:
1. Blood pressure:
The issue of blood is usually common with the elderly; the elderly are no longer strong to handle stress especially emotional stress. When they become stressed emotionally, there blood pressure begins to rise. There some drugs that have been produced to help the elderly during this period. One of the most recognized drugs is normaretic. This drug is usually given to the elder when their BP rises.
2. Blood Sugar:
From the ages of 50 years old, the rate at which the elderly exercise becomes very low thereby leading to the accumulation of blood sugar. If this is not controlled could lead to diabetics. This the reason why when the elderly visits the hospital, the doctors carry out fasting blood sugar analysis on them

3. Rheumatism:
Rheumatism is any disease marked by inflammation and pain in the joints, muscles, or fibrous tissue, especially rheumatoid arthritis. It is caused by inflammation in the tissue that normally produces lubrication fluid for joints. When this tissue remains inflamed, it leads to deformity by loosening joint ligaments and to joint destruction by eroding away cartilage and bone.
