All these arguments does not promote our Naira.

We only have narrowed this thread to monetary value but Ghana still remains a mile ahead the ant of Africa - Nigeria taking other parameters into consideration.

If you want to know the real value of the Ghanaian Cedis, add four zeros to the amount of the currency figure being displayed . On paper the cedi might seem strong but that is the essence of re-domination, it is mostly for ease of transaction and aesthetic . With the new Ghanaian Cedi issued in 2007, four zeros were removed while the value of the currency remains the same . In actuality, 1 cedi = 10,000 Ghanaian Cedis .

50 cedis is actually 500,000 cedis and so on . Nigeria dabbled with the idea of redominating our currency but decided against it ,if we had done so , 1000 naira would’ve been say N10 , which doesn’t change what N1000 would’ve gotten you before
You have said it all. Are you an economist?

What are you arguing about? What is the value of 100 Cedis in Naira? Isn’t that a simple question? What is this long talk of zeros and cbn etc etc? Haba simple question, long answer. Na wao. Do you know Ghana’s economic growth and development?

edoairways:

He said purchasing power of currency not exchange rate, probably because he used economics terminology that is why you don't understand it. What Ghana did was to remove the last two zeros from their currency. If we do ours it would be similar to theirs. Nothing special about that exchange rate because it can be devalued or valued anytime depending on what the Bank of Ghana says. What you should use to measure their economy is their economic growth and development not exchange rate

Rubbish talk! But why are some Nigerians like this? Some Nigerians almost want to get heart attack any time they hear that Ghana is doing well economically. Very unfortunate. Someone asked a simple question...what is the value of 100 Ghana Cedis in naira? Instead of providing a simple answer, they will be talking history...how Lord Lugard came to Nigeria in 1850 and how Ghana used to be called Gold Coast....

Answer the fvcking question and stop the buffoonery. If it pains you that Ghana removed zeros from their currency, go and remove your own zeros now. This one Na fight?

Who did this to you nigerians?
Chuchu27:

The Naira is actually higher than the Cedi, a lot of Nigerians have this misconception that it is the other way round , something a simple google search easily rebuff. The cedi is actually heavily denominated, with four zeros being removed . The current exchange rate is about 1 cedi = 66 Naira , in reality it is 10,000 cedis = 66 Naira . The image I attached below is from Wikipedia. A google search will reveal other references

I have not been to Japan before, but I was in Ghana for good 2years, and i'm currently in Nigeria.
So i'm telling you that Ghana is better than Nigeria.
70percent of nigerians live below poverty line, that is one thing you should be worry about

I’m not exactly sentimental about Nigeria or even the most patriotic, but the fact still remains that the naira is higher than the cedi . Please before you engage or react on issues in a public forum like this, endeavor to do your research and try to state your point in a calm and clear manner , this is not a fight .
so if I give you 100 cede now or 100 naira
which one will you take?

What is the level of inflation in Nigeria, compared with Ghana?
What is the economic growth in Nigeria, compared with Ghana?
What is the FDI inflow into Nigeria, compared with Ghana?
What is the level of unemployment in Nigeria, compared with Ghana
What life expectancy in Nigeria, compared with Ghana
What is maternal mortality in Nigeria, compared with Ghana
What is the poverty level in Nigeria, compared with Ghana
What is the level of access to education in Nigeria, compared with Ghana?
What is the access to electricity in Nigeria, compared with a Ghana?

I have never bring to Ghana (the OP has and have every information right to make comparison)
But if you have never bring outside Nigeria, then you would feel everything else anyone is saying is mere exaggeration.
I had same feeling until I travelled out of Nigeria in fact out of Africa and believe you me, every corner of this country irritates me.
Indeed this is a shit hole.

Re: Life In Ghana Compared To Nigeria (must Read) by themaestro08(m): 5:11pm On May 04, 2020
OK guys, let settle this argument once and for all!

The most common method economists use to measure a country development is by using the IHDI - inequality human development index. This indicator captures : life expectancy, income and average years of schooling.

113 Ghana 0.427 0.596 28.3

126 Nigeria 0.349 0.534 34.6

So you can see Ghana has IHDI score of 427 while Nigeria has 349. This is a huge difference and tells you all you need to know.

Kuwait has the most valuable currency in the world but does that mean it is more developed than Norway( the country with the highest IHDI score in the world)? Hell no.

I hope I have settled this matter.

In December 2018, the Ghanaian government sent a team from one of their top agency to Nigeria. The purpose was to learn how our government do things. We handle a service for the government and they came to that unit where we explained to them how we do the things we do. Interesting to note that, what you see in Ghana is just human organization. Unlike Nigeria that is a country of lawlessness, Ghana and her citizens are well organized and composed. Their model of development is to get the people sane and development would be quick, while Nigeria is running a model of leadership being the solution to our problems.

Both has an advantage and disadvantage.

During the highlevel meeting with the representatives of Ghanaian government, we discovered that we are miles away from them. In fact, most of our government processes are more optimized and organized than what you can find in Ghana. For instance, it takes only 48 hours to register a company in Nigeria and everything is automated. Same is not so with Ghana, it will take them years to figure it out. Most FIRS processes are currently automated, same is not so with Ghana whose processes are still at the manual level.

Our use of IT and cloud/web based applications for optimized processes is far beyond what Ghana can think of in the next 10 years.

After submitting an application to do same service for their government, they came back to us that their government wants an IT company in Ghana to do it. With the screenshots taken, I doubt they will figure it out. I have followed the project and I can tell you that they are yet to figure it out.

Nigeria is not the way it should be, and while the people continue to agitate for good governance, we should also improve ourselves so as to be ready for the good governance. Sanitizing the lawlessness in Nigeria will take nothing less than 20 years.

but why do nigerians always seek to take credit for other peoples success? many years ago Nigerians sent Ghanaians back to their country. they went back and rebuilt their country. Today, you nigerians want to take credit for the Ghana success story? By the way, the Ghana journey to success did not start in 2018. It started many years ago, so I don't even know what you are talking about.

as far as Nigeria's internal politics is concerned, I don't want to dabble into it because it none of my business. another thing I will tell you is that a people deserve the leaders they get. after all your leaders were not elected or appointed by Ghanaians. Or were they?

https: //rgd.gov.gh/Company%20Registration.html

https: //gra.gov.gh/forms/
etc

The two sites above are for Ghana Company Registration and Ghana Revenue Authority websites. Visit is and check with CAC and FIRS websites. Until 2020, Ghana hasn't figured out how to automate these processes that they still do it manually.

They are a whole lot of things about Ghana that is still manually done, waste a lot of time that Nigeria has fully automated. I didn't make reference to things I was told, I made reference to things I was involved in. I gave you a screenshot. If you are not convinced, then so be it.

I don't know how you registered a company in Ghana in 6 hours, even US is not so. New Zealand with the best ease of doing business can't do same. It shows how flawed their system is. Now Ghana has desired to optimize their processes by making it more efficient and doing things the right way. Most of their government processes are still being manually done and done inefficiently. Now when you go to a country, the first things to check with government is how is their ease of doing business which starts with the incorporation process, how is tax being paid and TCC gotten, how efficient, how is their stock exchange being done.

As at 2020, including the company you registered in 2010, you can't verify or validate anything about it online. Your documents were manually generated and when they have a lot of them being done that way, in future (which is now for them), they will see the weakness. Now I told you something as someone who was involved in the meeting with the delegation from Ghana government and you don't want to believe.

Tell me about the organization in Ghana and I will agree with you, but when it comes to efficiency in governance and government processes they don't even understand it. I just gave you their GRA same as FIRS, their RGD == CAC website to confirm they are ways behind us.

How do you get your Tax Clearance Certificate? How to you do your annual returns, what about other post incorporation processes? You don't do them, maybe it's the reason you don't know how inefficient their processes are.

And since you want to hear that Ghana is better than Nigeria, and since it's what makes you happy, then hear it, and atleast be happy. But whenever you want to compare African countries with Nigeria, spare us the insult of bringing Ghana to the equation. Just talk about South Africa, Egypt, etc and not Ghana.
