What about those who had 1 year master's program, was it not favorable to apply for PR?
I am trying to understand the role of 1 year and 2 years PGWP leading to PR.
Does 1 year PGWP don't give good ground for PR?

It depends on the province. Some province require that you have a job before you apply for provincial nomination. Others require that you should have been working for 6 months. Others 1 year. So imagine you get a 1 year post graduate working permit. Then it takes you sometime let’s say 5 or 6 months to get a job. If the province required a 6 month or 1 year working experience then you will be out of time before you qualify. But if you do a 2 year program which gives you 3 years working permit, no matter what you would have sorted yourself out before the 3 years are over.
Bearing in mind that you can only get post graduate working permit once (it cannot be renewed) it is better to go for the option that gives you more time.

Good day house.

Congrats to all those who have gotten lead for visas. I pray for successful outcomes in Jesus name.

Twice I applied to Canada last year to put to bed but I was denied. My elder brother resides there and he asked that I should come over to have my baby. Anyway they denied me twice... Reason for refusal I couldn't prove to them I would return after delivery. In any case I lost interest..

However I got charged up recently to reapply through study route. I have my MBA (Which Wes has evaluated) I intend applying for Child and Youth Care. I am applying for this course based on passion. I have an NGO which focuses on helping vulnerable children. The NGO was registered 2016, and to the glory of God we are making impact.

The school in view is Sheridan College for January 2021 admission.

My questions.

The school fees 13,000 dollars(rough estimate) per year. The course is for 2 years.

I am yet to know how much I would deposit in order to get receipt. How much should my bank account balance show in order to allow me pursue this dream and also bring along my family Husband and 2 children.

Thanks

Sorry about your previous refusals. However, there isn't a direct answer to your questions but I'll say this;
1. You only need to show proof of funds for the first year. So you add up your tuition for a year, living expenses for a year, additional living expenses for accompanying family members.
2. It will be wise to apply alone with your infant child. When you get in your husband can join you on open work permit.
3. If you got refused based on not convincing them you'll return in your previous applications then it is better not to complicate issues by applying with your family. That I believe is a red flag.
4. You need a super convincing SOP for deviating to the field you chose and for also going for a PGD program after your MBA. This is the most important part.

Hello Fruitfulie,

In paying your tuition fees, you should contact your prospect school directly to get first-hand information or check your admission letter if its written.

Your other question is incomplete. For broader advises, you should state if its a self-sponsored or spouse sponsorship and if its a family application, if I got you currently.

Also, details about your previous refusal; date applied and refused, complete reason(s), GCMS notes remarks, personal circumstances. This would enable people to advise against or opting for a family application.

BTW I am very much interested on this NGO initiative of yours.

Okay family I just got out of school last year with a 3.57 CGPA. I am yet to go for NYSC because of this covid 19, but hopefully I will be going with Batch A Stream 2. I want to start this journey on time so that by the time I am done with NYSC I should probably be here sharing my testimony of a Student Visa.

I am thinking about applying for a research/ project based MSC program to a university that the tuition fee is affordable. My sponsor is my dad, but my steps mum account is fatter than his, so I don't know which to use.

Also, I have an uncle who just migrated to Canada last year but he has had his family over there for more than 6 years now. His daughter is a citizen and his wife is a lawyer there now. Do I have to indicate all this to the VO.

Thank you very much

Your CGPA is a quit low to be considering msc program in Canada. The msc programs are very competitive so I think a Graduate Certificate program will be a good fit for you. Also you can make use of 2 sponsors it only makes your application strong. You can also declare you have family members in Canada it improves your ties to Canada.

I year masters will give you nothing less than 1 year PGWP. In some cases, you may be lucky and get 3 years. A friend of mine finished from University of Western

On the other hand, there are some provinces that makes it possible to get a PR even if you have just 1 year PGWP.

For example, if you do a 1 year masters in Ontario, they have a program called the OINP Masters graduate stream. It is a provincial nomination program. It is strictly for people who completed their masters degree and have lived in Ontario for 1 year. They don't need to show work experience and they don't even need a job offer to apply. All they need is write IELTS or CELPIP exams and meet some other conditions and they are good to apply for PR. More information, please click link below. https://www.ontario.ca/page/oinp-masters-graduate-stream

There is an

On the bolded I checked the website and they say they are not accepting applications. Does it have a time of year when it is open?

Thanks so much for your response. I would stick to your advise to go with my little baby first, and in few months request for my spouse and older daughter.

As per SOP, you mean I should project strong reasons for deviation to the school and most especially to consular right.

To be sincere, I am changing career as day in day out, I am loving my probono adventures more than my profession. However, I am opened to any advise anyone has so far its in line.

Thanks Qudkom. God bless you

If the applicant is matured and with working experience, its advisable to include a one.

If the applicant just finished NYSC in March, and plans to be fully funded by parents, though above 18, is it still advisable to be included? Although what is there isn’t much.

I would like you to clarify your statement below just to get more understanding.

I was thinking admission applications are looked at holistically.

What if one has a good Gmat score like (650) and a convincing SOP, would a masters admission (Msc/ MBA) not be possible with a low 2:1 (3.5-3.6) like the the guy stated?

Please help shed more light.

A quick one, can I apply for 1 year PGD, then before the end of the program, I get another PGD program just to make it 2 years of study. Does this count to make me get 2/3 years PGWP?

If you go for a one year program in Canada you only get a 1yr post graduate work permit. 2 year program gets you 3yrs post graduate work permit. The only limit here is a 2yr program is expensive. Also getting a 3yr work permit gives you the chance to recoup what you spent on your studies and also a chance to apply for PR.

Yes it is possible. Although the admission criteria always state a minimum B average. Some schools are lenient and consider the last 4 semesters but definitely GMAT, work experience et all can always supplement.

P.s: the primary admission requirements will always be considered before any other qualifications and most msc programs have quotas so I guess you understand the drift.

Hi Nkechi, I understand why you asked this question. Some people believe that if you apply for a 1 year program, you may not be granted your visa because ………..It is a very popular saying.

I know some Nigerians that applied from Nigeria that got approved for 1 year visa. I will suggest you pray about it and follow your heart.

Yes it does. It is what most people on 1 year visa do.

I finished my 1 year program last year August, took 4 months break in between that allowed me work full time, made some extra cash and then started my second program January and will be done by August this year. You are allowed to get 150 days break between the end of your first program and the start of a new one.
Once you are done with both programs, you will get 3 years PGWP.

But you need to know that you will apply for a fresh study permit again for the second program. You need to carefully consider this; who is your sponsor? Will your sponsor be willing to give you their financial documents the second time when you need to reapply inside Canada?

Just so you know, the same documents you will use in getting 1 year visa from Nigeria right now is the same documents needed to get 2 years visa. So why not just get the 2 years from Nigeria right now?

If I may ask, why are you so interested in going for a 1 year program?

Hi Nairaland Family,

I was reading old threads and came across an old tradition that I believe would benefit all of us. If you are a 2020 TRV applicant, kindly share your profile so that we can rub minds together to establish a timeline as to how CIC operates.

This idea was initiated by jnyuwa02 and sillysassysally took over and I would love to take the torch from her and if their is any other vital information that should be added to this template the gurus in the house should kindly draw my attention to it. Thanks

Please see the template below to guide the information you’re to share

taiwotosho22:

That can't be ascertained...

It all depends on the what the tuition fee of the school amounts to and the living expenses u are showing forth, with that u will know the idea of the minimum amount ur sponsor need to av in his/her SOA...

Note: the minimum Living Expenses for international student is $10,000CAD, u can have more than that though

Practically, ur Sponsor needs to show he/she can pay ur tuition fee and make available ur Living expenses (at least 1year Living Expenses which amounts to $10,000 CAD ,but if the school u intend to go is in Quebec, its $11,000CAD for a year Living Expenses there)

And even after all this expenses, there must be a reasonable amount of money left for ur Sponsor, most especially in the case where u av younger Siblings he is taking care.(if its ur Dad or Mum that is sponsoring u)..., I stand to be corrected on this

With that it will show that ur sponsor still has something to fall back on to take care of himself/Herself and your Younger Siblings etc.
