- Enugu = 57% poverty status

- Abia = 30% poverty status

- Imo = 28% poverty status

- Ekiti = 28% poverty status


From the map, states marked in yellow are states with least poverty in the southern Nigeria, while the states marked in brown are states with highest rate of poverty.

I know igbos who live in Lagos n visit their state of origin sometimes. They don't live in the east. They live, work n breath Lagos. Their wealth is in Lagos n are part of this statistics as lagosians n not as say Anambrians. So what is the argument all about?

I know a certain alhaji who is originally from Kano but has being living in my area even before I was born. His son Kabiru speaks Yoruba n if you r not told that he is hausa u would call him a Yoruba. His daughter Amina married an igbo business man. In fact she can barely speak Hausa. Most of the guys that toasted her back then thought she was a Yoruba girl.

Now if Alhaji was part of this NBS statistics, would it be taken for a Kano or Hausa statistics? No!. He lives in Lagos.

So I see these arguments as baseless and people opening these threads as ethnic n tribal jingoists.

Now as an igbo I have reservations about these graphs n demographics but if I have believed NBS statistics before what about now?

I am very accommodating of differing views among the Igbo community as I think everybody cannot think on same line lest we become stupid like IPOB members but I have observed that you who call yourself an Igbo man have never partook in any discourse here which seeks to elevate the Igbo people. Any Person who believes this needs a brain surgery so Imo state that is the power house of Education in Nigeria , that is has the tourism business after lagos and Abuja, that has oil deposits and a Booming Aviation Business is now poorer that Osun and Oyo that are living off stomach infrastructure funds , ritual forest proceeds and Marijuana Plantation income .

Maduawuchukwu,I am an igbo just like you but born and brought up in Lagos. I take it that you are new to Nairaland so you don't know me that much.
As an igbo that has lived in various regions of Nigeria I have a better mindset of Nigeria than the igbo that has lived his or her life in the igboland and has not ventured out of its cocoon. I view myself as a detribalised Nigerian. I see you as first a human before your tribe. There are bad people as well as good people in every tribe. I have interacted more with people outside my tribe than my fellow igbos. Maybe that has also influenced my views. I view issues devoid of emotions. So because it's perceived that igbos are Buhari haters, IPOB supporters n general critics of anything Nigeria, my views as an igbo are sometimes viewed as unusual.

I was born and bred in the North so I also have a broader view on things but that does not mean I should be taking pride in putting my people down everywhere and at every opportunity like you do. It is okay to support Buhari but not his policies or his actions that go contrary to your people's interest. Hausa man whether in PDP or APC will not support any action from either of the Party's that puts his people down. Do same

Igbos are not getting it right as far as Nigerian politics is concerned. That's my view n I am not forcing anyone to agree with me cos only time will tell n it hurts me. I used to care but I don't anymore. I only care about my politial affiliation now.
If you hold that Buhari's policies don't favour igbos what of the policies of the PDP that we supported for 16 years n still supported. I don't know how old you are but u need to see what Benin/Ore Road used to look like. For 16 years of PDP no new road was constructed in the South East n the old ones were left rotting away. Yes Igbos had politial positions in PDP n also politial appointments but it seemed like that was all we got for 16 years.

Maduawuchukwu I am not a hypocrite. What I do now is siddon dey look. Anyhow wey e wan be make e be. When igbos are ready for politial power in Nigeria we will know but what I know is that it can't be gotten by blackmail, politial harassment, outright hatred n all other tactics we got going on right now.

Oga stop changing topic. I did not say that you should not support Buhari. It is your right to do so. I am only calling you out on your anti-Igbo behaviour here. It includes supporting anti-Igbo policies but it also suppresses it. Any issue that is against Igbo interest gains your support; regardless of the subject matter, politics or otherwise. You can support APC all you want but when they are denigrating your people there you should speak out and oppose it but your own is that you are always happily in support. I am sure you are one of those who happily supported the exclusion of the South East from the Loan Nigeria intended geting. That kind of behaviour is not merely one of supporting your political party, it is an Efulefu behaviour.
