Kogi, Lagos, and Rivers are the most expensive states in Nigeria, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

NBS’s November latest Consumer Price Index disclosed that the All-Items Inflation rate is the highest in the three states.

Narrowing the analysis to food inflation in November 2023, on a Year-on-Year basis, Kogi was highest (41.29 per cent), Kwara (40.72 per cent) and Rivers (40.22 per cent), while Bauchi (26.14 per cent), Borno (27.34 per cent) and Jigawa (27.63 per cent) recorded the slowest rise in food inflation on a Year-on-Year basis.

Sometimes I am tempted to doubt these reports, how can kogi an agrarian and poor state record the highest food inflation in the country, we should have asked what factor is driving the price higher in kogi, is it because most food is imported ? And no
Is it because kogi is difficult to access ? Ans. on the contrary kogi is the easiest state to access in Nigeria as it shares boundaries with 10 states and the FCT
Ok, is it that kogites have high purchasing power ? The answer is no , they don't

So what could be responsible for high cost of food in an agrarian kogi state ?

Especially those 5th class slaves who say Lagos is a no man's land.
You should see their bus parks every January. You would think there is war there.

Hehehe.

Lagos and Rivers I understand, but what is Kogi doing in that list.

Kogi state that is suppose to be feeding the country is having food price inflation, Yahaya Bello is really a very useless and clueless man.

If only Yahaya Bello used the money he used in sponsoring thuggery and frivolities to support agriculture in the state, the story would have been different.

Too much beggars are in Lagos. They too like free free things there. That is why some people like going there to set up 2 by 2 shops and increase their selling prices too high for their hosts to afford thereby forcing them to run to their governors wives to beg for food undecided

There has been a flux of investments in the mining sector into Kogi. This has attracted people from outside the state, thus, pushing up demand for certain goods and services. Where the supply is limited, but demand is high, inflation is bound to occur. Also, herdsmen have prevented farmers from ploughing and harvesting their crops resulting in constrained supply.

The major problem is the ATTITUDE of the people. Government is only a part of the problem. BTW I currently live in Kogi State. I think the report is regrettably true.

Kogi is bigger than southeast east put together bla bla bla. But Anambra has double of Kogi agricultural output with many areas uncultivated.
