I really want to understand why Nigeria is the only country famously known for internet fraud in the world. I thought it was due to poverty and hardship but I realised that Nigeria is not the only poor country in the world. If it's about poverty then why are other poor countries not engaging in internet fraud?

The recognition of Nigerians as internet fraudsters is so intense that whenever you visit foreign forums and Nigeria is mentioned you will always see comments from foreigners saying things about Nigerians being fraudsters. Or whenever you try to get across to a stranger online in a foreign country he or she may dismiss you as a potential scammer. How exactly did it get to this point of Nigerians being the only country known for online scams?

I think there is something Nigerians are doing wrong concerning the way they handle this issue. I would say it's because many Nigerians make fun of it which provides the advertisement that pushes Nigerians to engage in online fraud. An example is when music artists glorify it in their songs just like that Yahooze song sang by Olu maintain.

Please if you have a better reason to explain why Nigeria is the only nation famously known for internet fraud you may kindly state it so we can figure out how best to redeem our image overseas.

That could help detect scam but what about prosecution? Our law enforcement agencies will receive bribe and path you on the back and our justice system is a joke unfortunately
