Obiano Calls For Strict Enforcement Of Boundary Closure.

Governor Willie Obiano has expressed dissatisfaction at the low level of compliance at Anambra Bridge-Head boundary, Onitsha.Governor Obiano made the expression when he paid a surprise visit to the bridge.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the Onitsha Bridge connects Southeastern Nigeria with Western Nigeria over the River Niger and is linked to Asaba in Delta State, Nigeria.

On arrival, there was a long queue of human and vehicular movement, most people, without face masks and unmindful of the social distance protocol.

The Governor who was visibly angry, directed the Police Commissioner to block off the two ends, to reduce human and vehicular traffic.
He reminded security operatives that they are not only enforcing the 6 am to 8 pm curfew, asking them not to allow any vehicle to be positioned on top of the bridge.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr John Abang, Commissioner for Transport, Dr Christian Madubuko, and other members of the COVID-19 Committee, were also present.

The Governor also paid a surprise visit to the Enugu-Anambra boundary, Amansea.

The Governor took a walk to the Enugu end of the boundary, where he personally inspected the few vehicles, waiting to be checked.
Governor Obiano expressed satisfaction enforcement at the boundary, noting that the effective way of containing the virus is by strictly enforcing Anambra boundary closure.

Recall that as part of precautionary measures toward containing Coronavirus pandemic in the state, during his last broadcast, Governor Obiano annoumced closure of all boundaries in the State, with exception of essential service providers.

This is part of the State Government’s multi-sectoral approach aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19 including the use of thermometers for reading temperatures of commuters at border points.
Anambra State has boundaries with six states including Enugu, Imo, Abia, Delta, Kogi and Rivers states.

Every governor is trying to outdo the others, this too shall pass.

Viruses are are man made, there are cures for every natural ailment but none for viruses. That is the extent of man's wickedness.

It baffles me that Anambra state and Kano had first case of covid 19 in a day now Kano have overtaken Anambra in a speed of light.

Does it mean Anambra state doesn't test people or that they are immune to coronavirus?

What made corona virus spread in Nigeria:

1. Non-proactive and self centered government( government that had to wait for all their families and relatives to enter the country before taking any serious decision)

2. Above the law( people who are bigger than Nigerian that cannot be quarantined at the airport and borders)

3. Corruption( law enforcement officers at borders receiving bribe for people to cross borders at both state and federal level)

4. Stubbornness ( People who feel they cannot stay one place even when they have nothing really important to do) e.g going to have fun in a hotel.

The first 3 points above well handled by the government would have prevented the virus from coming in and the last point would have reduced community spread as they say prevention is better than cure, So the government has the larger blame, now it is not more an external war but an internal war, more like a civil war( states fighting states)....

This border closure is a bigger scam than the pandemic. I heard tha many guys living in other states come to onitsha markets everyday to trade as long as they grease the palms of security operatives
