As you may know, writing a statement of purpose is a requirement for most graduate school applications. How do you go about it?
I have elaborated in this video. Feel free to ask further questions in the comments section.

Hello Fam

I have created this thread to share my experience and help many who would like to study abroad and get funding for it.

Please note that you must be willing to do the work and all that is required by yourself.

I did it so you CAN do it also. And the efforts paid off and it’s all worth it.

I will share tips and answer questions as much as I can.
Feel free to ask questions.

I have a channel on YouTube where I post videos to help many prospective students looking to study abroad and get funding.

For masters degree, you will usually need your transcript, certificate, CV/Resume, statement of purpose, recommendation letters, test scores, application fees.

I'm going for my PhD, is my bachelor's transcript necessary or just my masters? Actually I had a better grade in my masters.
Re: Getting Full Funding For Your Studies Abroad. Prospective International Students by Eniolakiite(f): 6:12pm On May 12, 2020
Some schools require both BSc and masters for phd application and some require just BSc.

I will advice that you use both as it increases your chances.

Hey,
I discovered that getting an undergraduate admission in the UK is more easier than that of the US more so for Nigerians ( probably because we were colonized by them). But here, I dont understand how to apply for admission and scholarship through UCAS.

Do you know about admission process in the UK? If you do please help me out!

And one more thing please. Is studying in the UK worth it? Or i should just work more to study in US due to the more advantages they seem to possess over the UK? Thank you

Your goals and aspirations will determine where you go to school and which of the countries can provide you more of the opportunities you need.

I really don’t know much about undergraduate process for the UK.
I did a google search and found this https://www.ucas.com/students

Try to search more online for any clarifications you need.

To my story

I started the process in 2018. I wanted to pursue my masters in Computer Science and I targeted fall 2019.

I made use of LinkedIn well. Connected with many Nigerians studying in the USA especially in my field. I had conversations with many of them and they were helpful. Then I prepared for GRE and TOEFL, used 3 months to study for both. I drafted statement of purposes for all the schools. This took months. Sent them to senior colleagues and those that had gone before me to read through and give feedback.

I did WES evaluation of my BSc transcript. Then I searched for schools online using https://www.4icu.org/us/, http://www.msinus.com/content/, https://www.usnews.com/education and others. Then I listed schools where I met requirements according to my profile. I applied to 12 schools in all. I got offer from 4 schools and one gave me full funding. Was rejected by 6. Didn't hear back from 2. The rejections were first to come and honestly it can weigh you down, but you have to be strong and focused on your goal and keep pressing. The day I got the email of the full funding, I wept tears of joy because all my effort eventually paid off.

The whole process is stressful honestly. It is not very easy but you have to keep going.
Heaven helps those who help themselves.

Is WES evaluation a compulsory part of your application?

Do you have to secure a supervisor before admission?
Re: Getting Full Funding For Your Studies Abroad. Prospective International Students by Eniolakiite(f): 7:14pm On May 13, 2020
I did the WES because some schools I applied to asked for it.
I was going for a masters so I didn’t need to secure a supervisor. You may need to secure one for a PhD.

Alright. Thanks. Would you like to share why you chose USA, and not Canada, Australia? Just to know what to consider while deciding a country of study.

How was your experience with GRE? Although I have written TOEFL, I have always been nervous about GRE.
Re: Getting Full Funding For Your Studies Abroad. Prospective International Students by Eniolakiite(f): 7:33pm On May 13, 2020
I just wanted US. No special reason.

I made a video on my YouTube channel about the tests. You can check it to feel better about the nervousness.

Cany student copy of transcript be used to secure admission for my Ph.d abroad? what else do I need?
I don't want to go through the rigorous effort of applying for my transcript again. I went through hell applying for my transcript when I was seeking admission for my master program. I prefer Schools in the Asian countries.
Re: Getting Full Funding For Your Studies Abroad. Prospective International Students by Eniolakiite(f): 11:06am On May 15, 2020
Transcript is peculiar to each school and what they want. Check the website of the schools you’re applying to for you to know what they will accept.
All other materials each school requires will also be on their website.

Nice information here, I would like to know if one has to reach out to a professor in a similar area of interest ro get a research assistant opportunity before applying for masters. Or is it after you apply to the school you do that. I am asking to know which one gives better chances of admission
