So a London used phone might still be good as new but refurbished will have had some changes in the hardware

Dude u are completely off. Refurbished are not clones. Tell me how will u distinguish a refurbished iPhone 8 that was sent back to apple, fixed by Apple and then resold as refurbished. There's absolutely no way u can know. Most of the times factory refurbished phones are better than used ones.

Download android assistant on your memory card insert it into it and install it to check it's clone or not. If the information provided on it correspond with the one you get on android assistant then u r good to go
