I'm calling out to those with experience in the poultry business on nairaland. I would really like to start a poultry farm (maybe with broilers first and later layers) but I have a very small capital on hand, N100, 000 to be exact. Please how do I go about it? Your ideas and suggestions will be very much appreciated. Thanks |

alpha052:Start with cost analysis. Is the #100k your total budget for rearing the chicks until sale time? How many chicks can you buy and rear with #100k? Do you have their housing sorted out? What about their feeding equipment? How much are day old chicks sold in your locality? Do your research and get started! I just took delivery of 50 two weeks old chicks bought at the rate of #450 per chick. Starter feed goes for #3800 per bag in Abuja. Also buy all the necessary medications. |

Victornezzar:How much will he sell each broiler if he uses 100k to raise them? If u sell for 1k, u will be at loss, for 2k at loss still. |

excanny:How can you sell at 1k ![]() The ideal price of a matured broiler should be 3500-4k But if he's training it till 4wks....he should be able to sell at 1200... He won't spend up to that 100k and he'll still make profit |

Victornezzar:How much is per kg of broiler meat? Mind u average weight at 8 weeks may be 2kg. |

Victornezzar:bro don't think he can sell at 4 weeks for 1200...maybe 700 at most...and that's if he is selling directly. |

Victornezzar:OK sir...am based outside Lagos though.. that's a good price...if he sells at 4weeks at that rate he should make good profit... |

zekepio:The 100k is the capital at hand right now. But I'm sure that more money will come into it because of other side hustling. Thanks man |

Victornezzar:okay.... Thanks. I'll make more research on how much the chicks are sold locally. |
| Re: Starting A Poultry Farm by Nobody: 7:57pm On May 14, 2020 |
excanny:The 100k is just like the amount for laying the foundation. Getting things like the housing and the first feed..... it's not for raising the birds throughout till maturity |
