The first non-European recipient was George Opong Weah.

That was why the likes of Maradona, Romario & co....didn't win it.

Balloon dor is for the best player in a season, all those saying Drogba, Lampard, Ibrahimovic, Arjen Robber etc, can you please tell us the season any of these players did better individually than Messi and Cr7. Don't get it twisted, Ballon dor is for the best in a season.

Sneider was not even the beat in Inter, let alone the world. Iniester in that season was light years better than him. Milito and Eto were the responsible for the CL.

Football moves with the media buzz. That's why CR7 & Messi will always find themselves there.
Robben, Sneijder, Ribery are seen as people who media-wise do not have the flair.
Its not totally right, but that's what we have come to live with.
