Thierry Henry also deserve that award.

Balon d'Or was only meant for European players. So if you aren't European you never can win it.

The rule was lifted in 1995. The first recipient to benefit was George Weah. That's why those 2 didn't win it.

Like in S. America till today, to win the South American player of the year, you must be playing in the South American League. The likes of Tevez (Boca Juniors), Neymar (Santos), etc...all won it before they came to Europe but can't win it now because they play outside South America.

You do realize Johan Cruyff is one of the players with most Ballon D'ors in history? He won the Ballon D'or thrice in 1971, 1973 and 1974.
