Bro! This is huge, you mean you got to Canada this year (pandemic year) and you got a job paying you that amount you stated without a Canadian education or experience?

Cc:salford.

Oga Ahib I greet you specially. However, I think this Canada/Diaspora journey is very relative according to individuals. For some people its been a mistake while for others its highly rewarding..I relocated to canada this year after living and working in Nigeria as a project engineer..Bros, my salary in 9ja was 150k per month but in Canada I make #1.2M net salary per month. Imagine a project engineer working in Lagos and earning 150k per month, I still have colleagues in 9ja earning 100-120k per month..in addition to my income here in Canada I get access to affordable quality health service and live in a sane environment where things are done the right way..But there are no free money in canada, everyone puts in the hours..I can confidently say relocating is the best decision I have made so far.

For people who are doing extremely well financially in 9ja it mayb be better for them to remain in Nigeria..

Another thing you should take note of is the fact that most of this Forex, Nigeria earns by exporting crude oil. Nigeria exports about 2M barrels a day of crude oil. If Dangote refinery starts functioning, most of the crude oil Nigeria exports to earn Forex would be channeled to Dangote refinery, thereby reducing our ability to earn Forex. Dangote refinery states that it can process about 650,000 barrels a day. So once it starts functioning, we would also be losing about 650,000 barrels worth of Forex we could have exported. There is always an opportunity cost. Nigeria cannot increase production of crude oil by an extra 650,000 barrels so fast.

He will buy at the prevailing International price of the commodity. But producing the refined products in Nigeria, will save us the forex used in importing refined petroleum products into the country

Many young people in tech abroad earn over 100m naira in USD equivalent/month.. You can’t compare opportunities in Nigeria to developed countries. Not everyone is a cab driver abroad

Earning $250,000 per month is an exaggeration.

I doubt if 20% of the workforce make up to that in a year

Meanwhile I think there’s no need continuing this Exchange rate argument. We once had it on the page below about this time last year, so it’s left for anyone to read up and make their decisions

Not an exaggeration sir, I’ve seen some people in digital marketing making up to $100k/week. Anyone for instance here who knows about Google Adsense will know it’s not an exaggeration. My point is opportunities abound abroad

Oil is an international commodity na.
he bought some oil well already amd the refinery can process all grade of crude ...is not dependent on Nigeria crude supply

I’m not talking about paid jobs, I’m talking about emerging opportunities in tech. CEO of Dangote earns less than $1m dollars according to you but an 8 year old makes about $26m annually reviewing toys on YouTube. There are equally other creators who make thousands of dollars monthly on YouTube alone. No need derailing the thread over this.

Dangote looks to me like an open market type of guy.
Do you really think he will like to be limited to just 2 big clients for his product?
I'm curious.

But you wouldn’t say they are moving solely for economic reasons, some just want to raise their family in a sane society. I’ve also seen some that relocated their families abroad and still working in Nigeria so to each his own..

Very clear now.
Vitol will handle his international sales operation while he Dangote will handle local sales.
Crystal clear.
Na wa oo,that guy will singlehandedly pull in a huge deal of fx,just that he might not sell but use for his own consumption abroad.(loan,etc..)
That way naira variation won't affect his loan repayment plans and network that much no more.
I see, that guy is really smart.
Just imagine if he put that fx he is going to pull in Nigeria banks.
Dollar will finally crash to 280 and kill some naysayers las las grin grin cheesy
