Detained Akwa Ibom Sports Journalist Regains Freedom by Emelcee(op): 11:45am On May 18, 2020
Justice Archibong Archibong of Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo has reduced the bail conditions imposed by the Uyo Magistrate Court for the release of Kufre Carter, a sports programme presenter on radio, who is charged for conspiracy and defamation of character of a public officer in Akwa Ibom State Government.

The higher court described the bail conditions of the trial Magistrate Court as "stringent, excessive and unaffordable."

Justice Archibong reduced the conditions from N3m to N200,000 with one surety, a prominent indigene or one doing business within the jurisdiction of the Court.

He held that the surety must produce two passport-sized photographs and swear to affidavit of means and upon fulfillment, be released from the DSS custody.
