when changing dog food you transition you don't change suddenly. same thing will happen even if you give royal canine
How do you transition? Is it not by mixing the previous food the dog was on with a little quantity of the new food, then you start increasing the quantity of the new food and reducing the quantity of the old food until you completely take out the old one over a period of 5-7 days? This was the format I followed and the vomiting together with the diarrhea started on day 1.

I'm happy to share that Coco is alright now. The vet that administered the treatment earlier on came in again two days ago to check on her after I complained that there's no significant improvement, he gave her another shot of antibiotics and multivitamin then he also gave me a dewormer tablet to put in her water.

I have been observing her for two days now and I think she's back to normal, vomiting has stopped since two days ago, her poop is firm now(it was spraying like a tap b4... Lol), she's back to eating proper and most importantly her energy level is up(playing, running, jumping and constituting)

I have placed her on just bland meat and sweet potato diet for the past two days now, I intend to continue on that until maybe Monday or Tuesday before I switch back to dog food(Jojo premium puppy).

I'm so happy mehn.... At a point I thought I was going to lose her.

Teaching Coco basic obedience and how I want her to behave has been really difficult, the fault is not hers. I can be training her to stop jumping by ignoring her and standing like a tree when she does it on me then treat/praise immediately she stops that behaviour but someone else in my family reinforces that behaviour without knowing by petting her and hoping she stops or by pushing her away. Even when you've told them what to do, they keep giving her attention whenever she does it.

Coco that was previously good at obeying the sit command suddenly does not like obeying it whenever she's first told to sit unless you tell her repeatedly, sometimes she even just walks away. I've seen my elder bro(the owner) continually say sit to her several times until she finally obeys it or sometimes not and trust me he does not say it in a calm way.

The only thing Coco is pretty good at now is sitting while you drop her food and going for the food until you tell her okay, that's her default setting for meal time now. Also sitting at a door until you tell her to step in or out. Then sit, stay and get it during play.

As it is, I feel she's confused because she's does not have a clear picture of what we want from her or how we want her to behave, I hope she turns out good sha.

Finally went to ShopRite, got some jojo puppy can food and breeders choice puppy can food. I thought the protein content of puppy food were supposed to be high, I was surprised when I saw that jojo puppy can food was just 8% and breeders choice puppy can food was 10%. I also got choke chain to correct her leash biting and pulling. Then I got the reflective leash and harness I ordered from AliExpress last month, yesterday.

Coco turns 3 months old tomorrow, those things(fish, egg and plain rice) I said she does not like she loves them now. I started feeding her pedigree puppy canned food(growth and protection) this week and I intend getting diamond puppy dry food to be mixing it, then adding chicken heads occasionally.

She's doing good on her obedience training but gets distracted easily probably because she's still a puppy. Her socialisation has been going well, since she's still too young to go out for walks what I do is take her outside our compound every morning around 6:30, we stay and roam about there. She gets to see people, okada, cars, turkey, goat and other dogs passing.
At the beginning, she was scared of the turkey o, immediately she sees the turkey she backs up but all the ones she go wan follow.

Coco dey constitute sha, picks and chews almost anything from the ground, she's still mouths a lot and once she's somewhere you don't want her to be, you call her in order to get her to leave that place then she looks at you and go back to what she was doing, immediately she sees you coming towards her she go just take off.

My biggest problem is that I still don't know how much to feed her, she eats 3× a day. What I do is one pedigree can food per day mixed with a little plain rice(per meal) and 5 chicken heads(per meal) sometimes I add fried fish or boiled meat or proper chicken to it. Whether I dey underfeed or overfeed I nor know.

Coco hates taking her bath! And oh she chews on her leash a lot, I don watch youtube vids to correct this behaviour, no level. I don't know if prong collar will be able to correct it.
Good job on socializing your dog with things she'll come across when she gets older. Most people don't do this because of their myopic beliefs that the dog will become to friendly and won't attack people.

Looking forward to positive review of her obedience training

For real? I wasn't the one who got her though, it was a gift to my bro from his colleague at work but na me be the handler sha. She dey constitute sha, everything na tug for her eyes. The mouthing part is what annoys me most, she bites down hard but it doesn't break the skin. Working on correcting it sha while deep down I hope she outgrows it.
Any bad behaviour you notice in your pup needs to be corrected immediately. She won't outgrow the mouthing, instead it will become worse because she will be bigger.

Anytime she does that give a little shout and stop every form of play with her. When she calms down give her a reward. Do this everytime...

...Not that I need to tell you. Your write-up shows you know what you're doing grin

I won't lie, I'm kind of scared she'll become too friendly to strangers as well but I have read that the importance of puppy socialisation can not be overemphasized.

Taking the obedience training slow and steady, the time and consistency it requires is my problem. How I wish there's a professional trainer or groomer in my locality. I lazy bros grin

I managed to bathe Coco yesterday morning when I noticed it will be a sunny day. I had to entice her with skippy peanut butter which made it a much better experience this time around though not pleasant all through. She's back to doing Coco things, playing, sniffing and scattering of dirt, lying on top dirty water and so on. Nor be say she dey make person job easy when it's bath time.

Mehn I don't know, she wants to play and be petted all the time. She sometimes follow me indoors during day especially whenever it's her mealtime but I don't allow her in at night. So at night when everyone is indoors, she lies down outside by the side of our entrance door and stay there till about 10pm when I normally take her to her space, sometimes she whines sef and I dey pity her most times. Na to plan to arrange chew toys.

Excluding pet stores where can someone get raw hide?

I have been too lazy to update, to be honest I enjoy reading other people's diary instead that I've been digging up some older threads.

Coco is 4 months and a week old now, I think she has started teething. I noticed a tooth fall out of her mouth yesterday and also noticed a little blood in her mouth today, the rate at which she chews now is very high.

About The Binggo Puppy Food
I gave out some of the food to one of my sister in-law who has a dog(same mix breed as Coco but a male, 6months+ and his name is Micky) to try it out on her own. She gave him a plate full without any other addition and the dog ate it all. I called her in like two days to check up on Micky if there's any issue of vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy, she said the dog was perfectly fine. It surprised me because this is a dog that has never had dry food before, he wasn't transitioned and there he was perfectly fine after eating only the binggo dry food for days.

With this, I started thinking of reintroducing the binggo to Coco but I was still scared because of the illness she experienced the last time I gave her. Well, there was a time I was broke that I could only spare some cash for just a few canned booster food and some noodles. I felt it won't do much that I had to reintroduce the binggo to Coco again. So I started giving her a mixture of noodles, binggo, canned booster and a little amount of date, she ate it well. I watched her closely the first day whilst praying there should be no issues and viola! NO ISSUES!

She won't accept just the binggo sha, you have to mix it with something else that is juicy but I'm happy since there's no vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy after eating the binggo.

So I guess the illness(bacteria infection) the other time was just a coincidence, it was not caused by the binggo dog food or maybe my dog system don finally accept am grin

I recently did a little research online about cod liver oil for dogs and that of human some days ago, I think the difference between both is the mg. Like that of the dog is 300mg per capsule while the human is 1000mg per capsule but I understand there's a 300mg human cod liver oil capsule too. I bought it and I have started administering it to Coco this week, the plan is 2 capsules per week

Op update on coco
She turned 8 months 3 days ago, I only know little about her routine currently because I'm not the one handling her. We let her out 7pm and lock her up 6am, so she's locked up during the day. My younger bro sometimes take her out for a brief walk.

In all, she's well, likes to play a lot when you let her out at night, cries sometimes during the day when she's locked up and see members of the family in numbers gisting or doing something out.

Her bark na die... But she's yet to start barking or charging at strangers sha, she becomes alert when she hears footsteps approach our gate.

The first picture was taken 2 months ago while the second one is recent

See how beautiful she looks. Where is that dude that was running his mouth that you wont like her when she grows.

Also from the pea line i am seeing on her forehead, the fact that she isn't long coated and you have never said anything about shedding. Your dog is a boerboel x gsd mix

Nice dog @op, it's really grown.

I have a mix too. GSD mix. Anytime I brush it, hair must follow the brush.. Even if it's 3 times a day.. And atimes, u jux see like loose hair on its fur, greyish. Is it normal? Or can it be prevented. Attached is the pix of the dog.
She's 8 months 2 weeks
