grandstar:If your mom is Igbo, then you are our blood. We don't play with our people. Come home to the east. Go to aba and Onitsha for business, Awka, and Enugu for real estate, go to Enugu and Umuahia for government work, goto Umuahia for history, goto Abakaliki for state of the art infrastructure and country life environment. Goto Nnewi for indigenous Industrialization. And to chop life, go to Owerri. See my guy, if you have money, not too much money, just enough to cover your journey please tour the whole south East this November - January. If you can you can get a property in Enugu, Akwa, Abakaliki or Umuahia. It does not stop you from having property in your Father's place, where you are from. You don't need to even goto to your mother's village. Just find an Igbo friend who visits home to go along with. |

The kind of properties, especially homes, hotels, eatries and malls found in Owerri are the type you can only find in Lagos, Abuja and P.H. Owerri is even performing better than P.H. in that regard. However, what many do not know is that Owerri is actually benefiting mainly from remittances. Igbos are apparently the most traveled people in Nigeria and probably Africa, and remittances alone is giving Nigeria billions of dollars yearly. Now, Owerri should be receiving about the second largest chunk after Abuja. When Igbos abroad want to invest at home, Owerri is always their first choice followed by Enugu while P.H. is hardly ever considered. Same goes with Yahoo boys who like to flex or invest in Owerri. Also, the serene and peaceful nature of the city, its nearness to oil region as well as the commercial cites of Aba and Onitsha, and also a central location in Igboland makes it very attractive for all Igbos to invest in. That informs in part why Sam Mbakwe Airport is the fourth busiest in Nigeria after Lagos, Abuja and P.H. in that order. That's the reason why Owerri is quite expensive. Meanwhile, I have helped lots of Nigerians both within and outside the country to buy lands in nice locations across the city and we can still do so for you if you wish. You can check my signature for more details. |

Hahahaha See how this one is hyping the village called Owerri. In all honesty Owerri is nothing more than a town littered with cheap commercial sex hawkers. There's nothing happening in Owerri other than prostitution. Igbos don't consider Owerri as an investment destination because even sane Imolites like Tommy Tommy, Orange drugs are all in Onitsha where they are prospering. Most Imolites hardly live in Owerri. They are usually at their base in Lagos, PH, Onitsha, Kano, Warri etc. Agro processing industries like Tommy Tommy should easily locate in Owerri but because there's no enabling environment in Imo state, they don't consider coming there. There's no sane organized person that I have seen in the last 20yrs relocating to Owerri, but every year Imolites are leaving their state in droves to Lagos, Onitsha, PH etc in search of better life. Imo state should start thinking out of the box. Building brothels on every dilapidated street cannot help Owerri grow from its usual town where only poor people reside. When you talk of real estate in eastern Nigeria, Owerri is about the last. By the way Owerri is a very small town, so where's even the real estate? There are no other igbos say from Anambra, Enugu, etc, resident in Owerri, unlike how millions of Imolites are resident in Anambra and Enugu states. That is the major reason why there is little or no investment in Owerri and Imo state at large when compare to other eastern states I mentioned. Imo leaders should start think in the direction where imo state can keep its people at home base with jobs. Brothels and chalets is the only job opportunity in Owerri ,it is very shameful and hopeless situation. Imolites should stop living by propaganda and start telling themselves the truth. That was why a known failure called Okoroawusa was able to have his way for 8yrs without achieving anything. Wake up call |

Human resources is as important as natural resources, if not more. That is why Owerri has more beautiful houses than any city in the South South despite the region being oil rich. When you have natural resources like oil without a commensurate human resources, you will end up having fine roads and flyover bridges with one or two fine edifice that would be surrounded by dingy houses and poor people. A case study is P.H. and Uyo. The cult issues and Ikwerre hostility has rubbed off negatively on P.H. because you hardly see any rich Igbo going to build imposing houses to live in P.H. except in rare occasions unlike in the 1950's and 60's. Port Harcourt's loss has turned to Owerri's gain. |

BeijinDossier:Why don't you focus on Ogun state, you this Afonja and leave Owerri out of your unreasonable assertions. Owerri has over 2 Universities, 2 polytechnics and 1 college of education, and also a lot of basic schools, massive super markets, hotels, media houses and other organizations employing it's masses everyday. So what's your point? Go to Ogun state and see how jobless your people are. Why aren't you living in Ogun state then but rather living in Owerri? |

oyewale0001:Have you seen how the northerners fight for Fulani Supremacy? Dude it won't work. Every region wants to exploit another. Igbos would always be the ones to be mistreated the most. |

PORT HARCOURT despite its hostile stance has never lost anything to Owerri. I have never seen anyone that left PH to go live in Owerri. To even do what in Owerri? Even ordinary school graduate doesn't spend more than 24hrs in Owerri after graduation. Owerri should start attracting at least light industrial complexes, agro based companies, food processing etc. Building brothels everywhere and clowns coming online to shout about tourism is madness. No sane person wakes up and board a bus or plane to a sleepy town like Owerri just to sleep with a prostitute. It must be tied to business trip. Owerri and Imo state people at large should start investing in their state, this time not brothels but in real sectors like, manufacturing, this will go along way to keep at least 50% of Imolites employed genuinely in their home state after graduation. |
